Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 87.5 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 3 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Bernard Shen on 2/8/2014 & rated 88 points: Light bodied, good nose, might have picked it as a Pinot blind. Spicy and peppery, went well with Asian food. (1143 views)
Tasted by agriffin on 1/25/2014 & rated 87 points: Far thinner than previous vintages, lacking structure and length. Light in colour. Has the typical aroma and mid-pallet but none of the structure expected. Drinkable and not at all unpleasant but certainly nothing to write home about. (1184 views)
Tasted by chatters on 5/24/2013: Robust, toasted coconut and vanilla accompany red berry fruit with a pleasing, but not dominant, tannic grip. A weighty but balanced wine that is a touch simple but good at this price point. (1069 views)

Cirillo Grenache The Vincent

The Cirillo Vincent Grenache is year after year one of the country's best value Grenache.

Marco Cirillo's family lays claim to the world's oldest Grenache vines, the most ancient of them dating back to 1850. The Vincent is the baby of the bunch made from a blend of 80, 90 and 100-year-old vine material.

Vincent is a charismatic character, just like his maker. It bucks the trend of big, sweet, oaky Barossa Grenache and sits firmly in the bright, cheery and gluggable camp. A portion of whole bunches give it a lifted perfume and silky texture, while the use of older French oak and stainless steel ensure this is a lot brighter and bouncier than many of its Barossa counterparts.
