Tasted by wordstar on 9/2/2018 & rated 94 points: Excellent balance. Held its own with strong blue cheese, roast beef and salami. Full bodied and delicious! (702 views)
Tasted by kingboo on 8/1/2016 & rated 90 points: Very good. (1532 views)
Tasted by Fire Bill on 10/7/2014 & rated 91 points: 71... Nope... 100... Definitely nope... Worth the $18 I paid... Hell yes (2620 views)
Tasted by RedValues on 5/21/2014 & rated 90 points: Decanted 3 hrs, dense ruby color, slight acidic nose, medium mouthfeel, longer finish with some grip/oak, drinks better with some food, wished I had more at $20. (3046 views)
Tasted by chigirl on 1/21/2014 & rated 89 points: Smooth. Earthy and dark fruit. Dry finish. I like it! (4071 views)
Tasted by BigBoy_Sonoma on 12/25/2013 & rated 82 points: Dark fruit and oak. No midpalate, no complexity. B- (3148 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 12/24/2013 & rated 92 points: 1983 vs. 1986 Sauternes Blind Tasting (Menlo Park, CA): Tasted blind. Young, jammy black fruit, younger, mineral; medium-full palate, black fruit; finish is short-medium. I guessed California cab with a few years of age. 92
On unblinding, this is superb value. This is a very good wine with excellent complexity and superb balance. (3302 views)
Tasted by Snoman on 12/16/2013 & rated 91 points: Deep purple-black in glass, with rich aromas of black cherry, leather and spice. Palate explodes in waves of cassis, black cherry, blackberry, with notes of leather and vanilla, plus a touch of smoke. As rich as the fruit presents itself, this is an elegant and balanced wine, showing ripe tannins, a nice touch of acidity and a mouthwatering, long finish. We were amazed at the QPR with a Costco buy at under $18.00. Delicious. (2057 views)
Tasted by Fire Bill on 12/12/2013 & rated 89 points: I think this will be good once the oak becomes better integrated. The wine has good ripe fruit, but it takes quite a bit of air to get it out. (1603 views)
Tasted by cucycling on 12/2/2013 & rated 90 points: Decanted 1 hr and really enjoyed with steak and cheddar panini. This is a big wine with a long finish and a beautiful nose. Tasted with two other CH from Costco and this was our favorite. A great value for a Atlas peak wine. (1452 views)
Tasted by scotty_b on 11/21/2013 & rated 90 points: Blackberry, black currant, spice. Tight on day 1, delicious on day 2. (1345 views)
Tasted by raypedia on 10/9/2013 & rated 86 points: Dark garnet, nearly opaque. Intense black fruit aromas along with high alcoholic heat. A touch off-dry on entry suggesting there's some rich fruit in here, but overwhelming tannins obliterate everything else. This needs many years before it will be approachable. By then you may be rewarded with some lush black fruit, but my fear is that by the time the tannins are tamed, the fruit may be tamed as well. This could be a stunner, but it could as easily fail to achieve its potential. I'd be curious to stash a couple of bottles for a few years, but I wouldn't heavily invest... which is sad, because it's a great price for Atlas Peak fruit. (1825 views)
Tasted by Heywood_ja on 10/5/2013 & rated 91 points: Opened, poured a bit an a glass, and Venturi-ed the rest into a decanter. There was a big difference, but I drank it over dinner before it could really open up. I enjoyed the flavor that came out, Tannins are there to balance the fruit, great now and I am glad I have a few cases to let rest. (1684 views)

Taste
Dark, dark, dark and punches out of the glass with gobs of tasty oak, sweet florals, rich plum and blueberry with plenty of mocha on a big, powerful frame. Rich, pure and structured - there is nothing subtle about this intense Cabernet, as it lays out on your palate in waves of dark fruit, blueberry and red licorice. It finishes huge and juicy with silky, fine grained tannins and persistent dark fruit.

Style: Full, Bold
Flavors: Blueberry, Mocha, Oak

This is actually Atlas Peak Cabernet, but the producer didn’t want us to put the appellation on the label since we are selling this for about half their price. Grown in hillside vineyards at 1,800 foot elevation, the wine is aged in 55-60% new French oak for 22 months before bottling.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
