Community Tasting Notes (average 92.9 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 19 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by moods on 5/22/2021 & rated 95 points: Just magnificent. Perfect balance of rich pithy fruit and a lifted refreshing acidity. Nose is full of fruit and flowers. Subliminal palate, long and inviting. I’m glad I have a few bottles left. This guy produces awesome white Burgs. (1281 views)
Tasted by RED AND BLACK on 4/25/2020 & rated 92 points: 30 minutes of air. Deep golden yellow. Oak nicely integrated. It has a stony, slightly pithy bouquet with fresh pear and lime flower notes. A light bitterness rounds off the pleasant finish (1371 views)
Tasted by vide on 10/18/2019 & rated 92 points: The second time for me with this wine, and my enthusiasm remains unabated. Beautiful lifted nose - great clarity. Taste of wild lemon and something sweeter: pear perhaps. But it is all about texture and the quality of the winemaking. There is a beautiful balance of fruit and acidity, which speaks of a determined position on what white Burgundy should be. Bravo Philippe! (1789 views)
Tasted by vide on 6/16/2019 & rated 92 points: This is a truly lovely wine, elegant, well balanced and with great purity of fruit. Perfectly clear light lemon colour, it rises on the nose to a clean lift of green banana, paw-paw. Excellent mouthfeel, perhaps a little too full on the palate to start with (but this is in keeping with its generic origins), but gains in acidity as it receives exposure to air., and with that acidity a wonderful balance of textures and flavours. Great winemaking. Well done Philippe Colin! (1606 views)
Tasted by NickA on 5/24/2019 & rated 91 points: Burgundy WIMPS, 24 May 2019 - Les Berthom table (La Trompette): The deep golden yellow colour and overtly oaky nose immediately give the impression that this is going to be a relatively opulent wine. Oak still evident on the palate, but again in a good, chewy, way. A nice balance between ripe fruit, acidity and viscosity. Quintessential white Burg, and a good match for the rich dish it was served with. (1843 views)
Tasted by andreel on 3/9/2019 & rated 90 points: Very rich and opulent, drinking well now. Nice but perhaps not as stunning as the 2014 vintage of this wine. (946 views)
Tasted by KJD45$ on 9/9/2018 & rated 95 points: Tonight there is more of a pineapple, pina colada emphasis to the fruit.
Still the tropical fruit, lime zest, minerality....just absolutely gorgeous.
This wine is all about the myriad of fruit flavors..
This may just be the best bottle of Chardonnay I have ever had!! (1168 views)
Tasted by MicklethePickle on 7/4/2018 & rated 96 points: This is just gorgeous, and is drinking beautifully right now. Looks for all the world like a Grand Cru. Very dark golden yellow with clingy fat legs. The resemblance does not stop there. The nose just explodes with rich butterscotch fruit with tropical fruit highlights. Fabulous creamy rich fruit lathers the palate beautifully, and finishes with a pretty coconut note. Hits all the right notes, and impresses me as one of the better white Burgundies I have enjoyed in the past 3 years at least. This is the way to celebrate the 4th--explosive! 5-14-18-9: 96/100. (1259 views)
Tasted by Mh33 on 6/29/2018 & rated 93 points: Smooth, full and buttery. (1010 views)
Tasted by MicklethePickle on 6/18/2018 & rated 95 points: Popped and poured. Brilliant, clear dark yellow, burnished golden with time. Really lovely legs. Gorgeous nose of honeyed fruit, chalky minerals, and gunflint. Excellent in the mouth, long, rich, and divinely vinous. The epitome of a fine chardonnay. Really fine value, in a perfect place right now. 5-13-18-9: 95/100. (1165 views)
Tasted by KJD45$ on 1/12/2018 & rated 93 points: Golden straw color, lime zest, pear, honeydew, stone...
Palate is fruity, spice, mineral all wrapped in complexity and a wonderful lasting finish...lime rind , pear, green apple are just some of the myriad flavors...gosh it's just such a wonderfully complex minerally
Fruity wine that just begs to be savored...OUTSTANDING....
And for the price of $43... It's a steal.... (1121 views)
Tasted by dwmichel on 10/15/2017 & rated 95 points: Pear, lime blossom, light green apple, wet stones, slight peach and faint pineapple. Baking spices on the end and a long finish. Nice flinty oak mixes well with the minerals. Quite complex. Med+ alcohol but still well balanced. Drinking wonderfully now, I'd say this could hit peak maturity in 4 years and stick around for 10 more. (1086 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 5/20/2017: Burgundy Flight (K&L Wines, San Francisco): Light yellow. Musky oak scents. Lots of vanilla and wood. Astringent finish. Seems like someone forgot the fruit here. (1489 views)
Tasted by Keeping It Real on 5/20/2017 & rated 88 points: What a fresh nose. Good. I prefered this one from the La Maltroie. (1189 views)
Tasted by winetastingnote on 5/20/2017 & rated 93 points: Open and accessible, white peach on the nose, rich and beautiful wine. (1244 views)
Tasted by MicklethePickle on 4/13/2017 & rated 94 points: Excellent white Burgundy. Burnished golden yellow. Complex nose, with rich fruit in the nose, lemon and mineral. Lovely mouthfeel, round, structured, chock full of fruit, and a long, very sexy finish. A "wow" wine. Took a bit to open, so it has time on its side. 4-13-18-9: 94/100. (1157 views)
Tasted by Mh33 on 3/26/2016 & rated 93 points: Smooth buttery perfection (1327 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
