On the palate, plum, black cherry, sweet oak, hints of spice. Good grip on a slightly hot finish. Would like to see a little less alcohol but at $14, this is a no-brainer. Drink over the next few years. MerlotMerlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape.
