Tasted by MQuentel@web.de on 8/12/2014 & rated 86 points: This is a orange wine. In the first years of the new millenium Peter Jacob Kühn made a sharp course change. He worked onlyorganic and biodynamic, he operated with longer maceration for his Riesling. This 2004 Riesling is very Special, the colour is more orange than yellow (orange wine ;-)) the nose is much more phenolic than usal and on the palate you have on he one hand tertiary flavours like polish, wood and dried herbs, on the other hand there is a wonderful balanced acidity and the wine is in itself absolutely consistent; by the way: bonedry! This wine is not easy drinking at it's not a typical Riesling but this 2004 St. Nikolaus Riesling trocken (dry) is a very interesting and philosophic wine. (1609 views)
Tasted by octopussy on 11/23/2013 & rated 92 points: Magnum Only - Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner (O's House): From Magnum. Medium yellow colour. In the nose, there's some petrol, bright autumn fruit (quince, apple), some honey and strong herbal notes. It's very balanced and harmonic, much better than the 2003 which was much more highly rated by the critics. On the palate, it's tight, compact with bright acidity and fruit. Absolutely bone dry. Long finish. (1901 views)

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)

Rheingau

VDP Rheingau (Official site) | The Rheingau (Wines of Germany) | Wikipedia about The Rheingau
On weinlagen.info

The small but fine wine-growing area Rheingau offers one for the culture of the vine ideal microclimate and best soil conditions. The Rhine runs uninterruptedly almost one thousand kilometres from Basel up to its muzzle into the North Sea, in a northerly direction. With a short exception - the Rheingau. The Rheingau mountains force the river to a change in direction here. The vineyards falling in this region to the south stretch really to the sun. The king of the white wines, the Riesling, finds ideal local conditions for the unfolding of his fine fruity and elegant type of vine character on the multilayered weathering grounds with loess, loam and sand additions.
