Tasted by spidersva on 4/8/2020 & rated 92 points: Dark and yummy. So good. (545 views)
Tasted by dissler on 6/13/2016 & rated 90 points: Medium to light in colour, red-brownish, looks more aged than it is. Good in the nose, broad flavours of red fruit and blossom. Lovely, harmonius and fresh. Reminding me of a sophisticated pinot but richer, quite refined for a californian. Palate very interesting also but different direction than the nose. Taste of dried fruit and raisins, almost like a tawny port, and vanilla. Long lasting. Smooth wine, round and soothing, with a different note. Not cheap. Fascinating and well done, will not become my house wine but great for a change. (1313 views)
Tasted by kstoddard on 4/15/2016: Hospice du Rhone 2016 The Opening Tasting (Paso Robles, CA): Not a fan of this style (1831 views)
Tasted by BMG Wine on 1/29/2016 & rated 89 points: Though well balanced, this wine is still huge and extracted. I doubt the 15.6% alcohol would be so well behaved if served at warmer temperatures. Cellar temp and time to breathe are necessities here. I'd call this food wine, meaning it needs a nice fatty ribeye or something like that to counter it. (1656 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
