This was our last bottle. I see there are still about five cases out there in community holdings, and would suggest this vintage still has some time left. We'll offer 2021. Dan's magic wins again! (1031 views) | | Tasted by mdfuller on 3/3/2017 & rated 91 points: i thought this was wonderful ... better (or at least more complex and elegant than '13 or '14 both of which i had recently). we had with a 'snack-like' dinner with salad, crackers, humus and home-made veggie burgers with cheese. the wine stood out the bottle was gone between the two of us (not common at dinner) (1013 views) | | Tasted by XYTD on 10/19/2016 & rated 91 points: Quite a delightful Char. It is creamy but not overly oaky. Paired excellently with lentil curry, clams with garlic and white wine, and a steamed whole fish. We paired it with homemade rigatoni with Meyer lemon, Pecorino Romano cheese, and Calabrian pepper - and we both thought it was a great match. (862 views) | | Tasted by mdfuller on 6/12/2015 & rated 91 points: for me, not quite the mouthful of fun that i always find in a Rued, but another DG chardonnay that i think would surprise most ... i enjoyed it and will look forward to the next one (959 views) | | Tasted by mdfuller on 2/22/2015 & rated 91 points: a bit younger than i like to drink, but wanted to try it. my first one. i think way better than the 88 average here in CellarTracker ... i want to sit on this one for another year at least before next one (942 views) | | Tasted by affordableCollector on 11/6/2014 & rated 88 points: light gold, in the color. lime, lemon, floral, spice, on the nose. lime peel, citrus, spice, herbal, on the palate. high acid, on the finish. | Dutton-Goldfield Producer websiteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino County |
