Med rich golden straw color. Clear.
Enticing bottle bouquet of petrol, 6 stroke engine, flint, elderflower, and green apple skin. The palate is still structured with fresh acidity, med to med plus body, and big fruit profile. White peach, grapefruit, pineapple, green apple. Minerally driven, honey infused but completely dry, unmistakenly Alsatian. Deep and long finish.
I honestly don't see the haste in drinking this baby up. Could easily be kept for 5-10 more years yet without fruits seriously receding. At present though, it is a testament to how a grand Riesling can gracefully age. 91. La bouche suit mais ne montre toujours pas le coté pétrolé des meilleurs Riesling. Tout de même excellent cette fois. (1503 views) | | Tasted by kostaslonis on 3/20/2016 & rated 93 points: 4th Deals Gastronomy Fair (Intercontinental Hotel): Very rich nose, offering quite ripe fruit, petrol, honey, wax and caramel. The palate follows the same intensity, high acidity, wax, honey, tropical fruit, ripe stone fruit, clear, med body, very elegant, med finish. Outstanding quality, drinking now or later (1687 views) | | Tasted by Villon on 7/24/2014 & rated 90 points: Très bien. Developed, petrology, minerally nose, underlying apple and notes of orange. Medium bodied, petrol, sweet apple, notes of orange, fresh, tangy acidity carries a very good length, slightly spicy finish. Very good, still going strong. (2133 views) | | Tasted by Villon on 7/9/2013 & rated 91 points: Très sec, droit, tranchant. (2766 views) | | Tasted by Andrewbdc on 9/3/2011 & rated 89 points: Medium straw colour with very slight greenish tinge. Petrol, citrus fruits, peach on the nose. Almost smokey. Rich, off dry, but with good balancing acidity and minerality, good length. Paired very well lightly spiced grilled prawns. (2094 views) | | Tasted by cdimaro on 11/28/2010 & rated 85 points: Straw with an evident green tinge, quite some brilliance in the glass. The nose displays a sweet and refined character reminiscent of fruit and flower. Apple, peach, honey and jasmin blended together though a deep mineral vein. In the mouth this has plenty of character and outstanding ripe acidity that grasps the palate and won't let the flavour go. Lots of spice make this even more vibrant, white pepper to the fore. Rebuy: yes. (2108 views) | | Tasted by Stefanos T. on 4/23/2010 & rated 89 points: Medium gold with greenish hues. Medium plus aromatic intensity. Mineral, white fleshed fruit, floral(honeysuckle), yeasty-bready and lemony. This is dry with minerals in the mouth as well, medium body and good acidity. Length is medium. Has finesse and power. (2142 views) | | Tasted by cdimaro on 12/22/2009: Produced in around 25000 bottles from grapes in the Grand Cru Pfersigberg, with a Limestone and Clay soil composition. Rich, with notable depth of fruit and concentration. A vigorous, lifting acid backbone supports the fullness of the fruit making the wine "roll" in the mouth and stimulates the taste buds. Superb. Good now but will develop well for the next 10 to 15 years. (2003 views) | | Tasted by SimonG on 5/28/2009: Cellar Tasting, Leon Beyer (Eguisheim): Pfersigberg GC. Lighter nose, no kerosine. Clean and fresh, some peach frit coming through. Persistent and long finish. Elegant. *** (2755 views) | | Tasted by Paul D on 3/13/2009 & rated 89 points: Pale lemon. Slightly exotic nose with apple, citrus, notes of kerosene and ginger. Quite plump on the palate but with lovely, crisp acidity. Intense flavours of ripe apple and hints of tropical fruit (lychee?) on the mid-palate with citrus fruit coming through on the long, fresh finish. Lovely. (2268 views) | | Tasted by Paul D on 5/31/2008 & rated 89 points: Pale lemon. Slight whiff of petrol on the nose, intense and otherwise fresh, with green apple and a hint of lime. Medium bodied on the palate with intense green apple fruit, some lime, crisp acidity and a long, lingering, slightly lemony finish. Vibrant, balanced and with good latent complexity, this should age well. (2277 views) | | Only displaying the 25 most recent notes - click to see all notes for this wine... |
