| Community Tasting Notes (average 86.6 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 20 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by MickJC on 12/14/2020: Harsh. Almost sour. (910 views) | | Tasted by chatters on 5/28/2019: Last Tuesday Supper Club (One Penny Red, Summer Hill): Slight cork taint initially on the nose, buttery and rich, a little alcohol heat. That slight cork taint is on the palate as well though it proves quit citrus and fresh as well, some mid palate burr and finishes warm. (1320 views) | | Tasted by treidling on 2/19/2017 & rated 86 points: Varietally correct and a solid, balanced effort. Nothing to write home about but quite a good California Chardonnay for the money. (1935 views) | | Tasted by mxpbuy on 12/29/2016 & rated 88 points: Simple, refreshing citrus and some pear with some chalk and minerals. The modest chalk shows up at the finish and cuts it short. A fair value wine. (1961 views) | | Tasted by RandomCoil on 10/4/2016 & rated 88 points: Solid for the cost. (1539 views) | | Tasted by now_in_mi on 8/27/2016 & rated 70 points: Possibly, I didn't get a good bottle. It seemed a bit bland all around. (1078 views) | | Tasted by Seb Frefranc on 8/26/2016 & rated 89 points: Fresh nose with yellow fruit. Peach, apricot and pear. Lemon. Flowers also. Some caramel notes. Creamy soft texture. Rich. Nice length. (521 views) | | Tasted by iDrum4Wine on 7/1/2016 & rated 89 points: Slight lemon and pear aromas lead to golden delicious apple and pineapple flavors. Very good acidity/fruit balance and refreshing medium finish. (632 views) | | Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 11/2/2015 & rated 86 points: Light yellow color; savory, tart baked apple, butter nose; medium bodied, tart baked apple, lemon cream palate with near medium acidity; medium finish (13.5% alcohol) (331 views) | | Tasted by DanSm on 10/30/2015 & rated 85 points: Crisp and fruity, with a touch of spice...enjoyable. (373 views) | | Tasted by DanSm on 10/3/2015 & rated 84 points: Good, but a lower QPR (361 views) |
| Benziger Family Winery Producer websiteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountySonoma CountySonoma Coast |
