Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 84 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 5 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Chomsky on 12/16/2011: Unmistakably Alsacian, with its pitched nose of flint and dried and honeyed fruits. The wine is admirably lifted but the flavors, which are clearly in the late-harvest spectrum, are agreeable and pleasing, but it all ends a bit short and end rather bitterly. The residual sugar contributes to the richness of the wine, but it has receded somewhat into the background. There's no future here so drink up pronto. (2438 views)
Tasted by mlawren1 on 3/2/2010 & rated 91 points: Crisp and acidic. Nice green apples with a bit of minerality. (2367 views)
Tasted by mlawren1 on 5/10/2009 & rated 89 points: A bit of petrol up front but it opens up into a fruity minerality. was perfect with fish. (2435 views)
Tasted by Jiuwine.com on 9/2/2007 & rated 70 points: Domaine Weinbach - 1999 Riesling Cuvée Ste. Catherine
Kientzheim in Alsace, France

13.5%. Mature gold color. Warm, rich dry apricots with some steely expressions. Full-bodied, very creamy texture, little depth and a short to medium finish. Simple, but not really so enjoyable.

Tasted by tendring on 10/3/2005 & rated 86 points: Wine Education Service - Alsace - Domaine Weinbach: Golden, almost amber.
A restrained nose, initially a little petrol, then ripe fruit and jelly babies.
The taste is quite mature with a hint of oxidisation, well rounded, a sweet edge, complex and very long. (1823 views)
