Community Tasting Notes (average 89.6 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 17 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by JOsgood on 4/9/2010: OK - Crisp and fruity. (4035 views)
Tasted by manonthemoon on 4/6/2009 & rated 89 points: Had at Bistro Savannah. Nice easy drinking sparkler that paired well with a cheese plate. Nice citrus, little butter, and minerality. Good for the price point, but not as good as Argyle's blanc de blanc. (4263 views)
Tasted by DanSm on 11/13/2008 & rated 88 points: Opened in conjunction with a special celebration in front of the fireplace. Good and enjoyed the fruit-forward style. This was a gift to me and my expectation was higher given the high price. It's good but the price reflects the owners' arrogance which spoils the enjoyment. Poor QPR. Buy Korbel, it's more reasonable priced and isn't much different. (4451 views)
Tasted by samer on 10/12/2008 & rated 91 points: a slight walnutty, crisp lemon-lime delight...went well with bagels and cream cheese followed by fruit salad (4427 views)
Tasted by jjclips2 on 4/30/2008 & rated 88 points: Very nice. Clean and crisp with nice citrus, lemon zest qualities. Refreshing acidity with refined, tight, bubbles. With the huge price increase of Champagne, this allows for a nice alternative. (4584 views)
Tasted by ljl203 on 12/22/2007 & rated 89 points: Tiny tight bubble - toasty oak and lemon. (2354 views)
Tasted by drycab on 11/23/2007 & rated 90 points: Nothing spectacular here, but a very nice complement to the hot jalepeno crab dip at thanksgiving. This was the first bottle of the night and a very pleasant opener! (2440 views)
Tasted by Tejano on 10/6/2007 & rated 89 points: Very light and clear straw color with a simple nose showing a tad of yeast and melon. Easy sipper with moderate framing...clean taste and a sense of crispness that had good balance as a starter with appetizers. (2531 views)
Tasted by DenisLee on 7/21/2007: Nothing special. (2096 views)
Tasted by yonster24 on 7/4/2007 & rated 90 points: Very smooth. Refreshing on a hot day. Great smooth sparkling wine. (2815 views)
Tasted by EMichels on 3/17/2007 & rated 88 points: Crisp; Good acidity; Green apple; 5,12,15,6 (2771 views)
Tasted by spotfin on 1/5/2007 & rated 89 points: Pretty good, smooth, not too yeasty, nice, simple sparkler. (2976 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
