| Tasted by Waza on 8/14/2022 & rated 89 points: Still a big gutsy wine, needs a bit of warming in the current climate. Has many years life left. (481 views) |
| Tasted by GD77 on 5/15/2022 & rated 90 points: The oak has settled a bit but the wine is pretty generic in terms of ripe, heavy Barossa booze. Lots of wine making to get it to present this way. Some like it. This is the last vintage in my cellar and at $25 is a good backup for visitors. (496 views) |
| Tasted by A_Steady on 7/30/2021 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured, consumed over 3-4 hours. Coming into its drinking window for me, soft n cuddly but balanced and a long finish. Has the creamed corn some Barossa Shiraz develops. (820 views) |
| Tasted by srmdrummer on 12/24/2020 & rated 94 points: Deep inky ruby, luscious dark berry drive with chocolate and oak. Definite acid and firm not over the top tannin. A big, balanced wine that represents what a typical, quality Barossa Shiraz is all about. Great drinking and a lot of life left. (957 views) |
| Tasted by Waza on 4/6/2020 & rated 91 points: Dark ruby red, long on the pallet, full bodied and balanced. This is a great wine, another couple of years will benefit it. (1090 views) |
| Tasted by bowesmana on 7/31/2018 & rated 94 points: Delicious The wine looks inky colored. The body is full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. (1802 views) |
| Tasted by BBPP on 7/28/2017: No mistaking this for anything other than Barossa Shiraz. Ripe flavours and generous oak. It's a very good expression of this well established style. A junior Elderton Command in many ways.
Drink this with food, it's not a wine to ponder on its own. Something big and blokey like rib eye on the bone. (2870 views) |
| Tasted by AnonymousCoward on 6/23/2017 & rated 89 points: Still way too young. Brooding flavours on the nose - you can tell this will be immense once it opens up: plums, blackberries, peppery spice, dark chocolate notes. Firm tannins, a little rough around the edges on the palate. Long flavoursome finish. I'd give this at least 4-5 years to settle down. (2046 views) |

Dark inky purple, clear with no sediment like I've had with older Filsells. Popped and poured, with nutty (vanilla?) wafts coming out straight away. Lots of dark fruits on the nose. Taste was similar however wasn't the fruit bomb I'd expected, possibly the oak hid some of that fruit, but not in a bad way. Wasn't too much oak either. The vanilla nuttiness moved more coconutty on the palate with some chewy tannins too. The finish was medium long, and my inner lips and mouth were stained purple big time, more so than other red's I've had recently. Overall not too bad for a young Filsell. (1426 views) |
