Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 91.3 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 100 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 9/24/2023: A "cult" wine tasting and lunch (Restaurant Bak, Amsterdam, NL): Oxidative nose, crème brûlée turns into dried apples, on the palate the acidic structure is completely intact, drying bitters on the finish. Not sure if this correct, not rated. (1830 views)
Tasted by jrick on 7/6/2023 & rated 93 points: Now this was good, but the Beauregard I drank at the same time was just clearly better. Still this was nicely mature, candied lemon and red apples to go with the chalky minerality. (990 views)
Tasted by astroman on 4/14/2023 & rated 89 points: White Burgundy Dinner (Asia Grand): Blind. Had this 2nd time in a little over a month. Totally different experience compared to the earlier and rather disappointing knowing the producer. This seems little premox, med lemon in appearance with notes of chrysanthemum and honey. Finish was long with lemon notes. (1491 views)
Tasted by melvinyeowq on 4/14/2023: White Burgundies at Asia Grand: Had lots of variability with his wine unfortunately. A little dark in colour, palate was definitely a little advanced for this. Drinkable but not very interesting. (1631 views)
Tasted by aChave on 3/19/2023 flawed bottle: Opened last two bottles of this wine. The first was dark yellow and oxidized. The 2nd was also fairly dark and tinged with hints of oxidation, but we kept the bottle refrigerated and tried it again two days later… still rather forward, but certainly drinkable. these were part of a purchase years ago; the previous bottles were all excellent, but clearly these two were well down the road. Disappointing at best. I am wondering if these wines are simply not made to age. (1284 views)
Tasted by astroman on 3/3/2023 & rated 92 points: Dinner at Sushi Sato: Pnp. Creamy, lemon curd with focus aroma, well balance with lovely fine acid ending with lovely rounded finish. Drinking very nicely. (1342 views)
Tasted by hajoha on 1/31/2023 & rated 93 points: Pattes Loup Chablis Butteaux 2014.
Ai ai, dette var lekkert.
Veldig sexy med begynnende modning.
Klokkerent.
Topp Chablis. 93-94p (1272 views)
Tasted by aChave on 8/3/2022 & rated 92 points: Lively Chablis. Excellent acidity, good fruit. A mouthful of pleasure. (1701 views)
Tasted by aChave on 5/15/2022 & rated 92 points: Absolutely lovely and in a perfect place. Rich orchard fruit on entry with a stoney, mineral-driven exit. Long, lingering finish. Not necessarily classic Chablis, but…! Drink me 😄 (1743 views)
Tasted by melvinyeowq on 5/10/2022 & rated 91 points: Chambolle 1er dinner: Someone mentioned it was a little advanced and I could see why, a little more developed than my bottle two years ago / the 2012 drank at the start of this year, as the ripe fruit showed signs of losing acidity and gaining more sweetness. Still pleasurable but drink up. (2278 views)
Tasted by aChave on 3/4/2022 & rated 92 points: Energetic yet open and precise. Loads of fruit and depth with supporting balance. Exceptional Chablis. (1907 views)
Tasted by jrick on 12/4/2021 & rated 93 points: This bottle seemed to have travelled even further into Jura, with the lemon, sharp acidity and cheesy oxidation. Still very good but I think I found this simpler than I have before, especially the texture felt thinner now.

Edit: with several days in open bottle in the fridge I have to change my perception, it has sharpened up and delivers a chalky, sea breezy minerality and is now really Chablis as it should be. Raising score from 91 to 93. (2030 views)
Tasted by GuWin on 9/13/2021 flawed bottle: Chablis 1er Cru 2014 (Stock, Oslo): Forferdelig korket! (2183 views)
Tasted by Vintage82 on 6/21/2021: 2 btls purchased at auction. first was past prime but maybe opened too soon after arrival from shipping. 2nd btl opened months later needed reviving in a blender urn stirred w a wooden spoon before dbp decanting. went on to beguile all at the table with notes of mint and watercress and a white and green fleshy palate. not terribly complex but contemplative drink. (2045 views)
Tasted by Vintage82 on 6/21/2021: doa (1954 views)
Tasted by Hanibal on 6/13/2021 & rated 89 points: Not premoxed like last time but still not as good as when I had this young. Seriously lacking length on the finale for a premier cru. Not a buy for me anymore (2585 views)
Tasted by french16 on 6/5/2021: Funny cause I had sone great bottle of this wine but this particular bottle stayed quite muted over 2 days. Not bad but just very shy.. (1777 views)
Tasted by kfinsrud on 5/1/2021 flawed bottle: Ox (1927 views)
Tasted by JM_MadTown on 4/3/2021 flawed bottle: Another pre-mox bottle, unfortunately. This wine has been stored at 55 degrees since release. I noticed that other members have been having the same issue from time to time with this wine. If I were you, drink up what you have soon. Some bottles are very good, some are down the drain, like this one. (1781 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 3/31/2021: Deep yellow. Brothy with early oxidative notes. Medium to full body. Good bitter citrus and salinity, but only average acidity (especially for a 2014). This has declined since last tasted in February, 2020. Drink up. (2337 views)
Tasted by JM_MadTown on 3/13/2021 & rated 89 points: I would rate the wine higher, but there are some reductive notes to it indicating to me that it is on the verge of pre-mox. But it does have that chiseled, flinty citrus fruit to it that I love about Chablis. (1825 views)
Tasted by wayfarer on 2/21/2021 & rated 91 points: Opened slowly over course of 1.5 hours. Hints of age around the edges, but not premox, thankfully. Not effusive nose, but with considerable weight and depth in palate. Citrus, aged lemon, hints of mineral, floral, seashell. The balance and fruit are outstanding, yet the nuance and complexity are hinted at but not realized. Clean and compelling, as I've observed with other Pattes bottles (vent d'ange), gained richness with air. (1998 views)
Tasted by Shiaxonna on 2/14/2021 & rated 91 points: Starting to get towards peak drinking window. Lots of stuffing here. Complexity, richness, concentration of fruit, long lasting palate, everything you need for a great wine. Needed an hour to open up though. Will wait 2-3 years for my next bottle. (1872 views)
Tasted by Hanibal on 1/21/2021 flawed bottle: premox (2397 views)
Tasted by YoRi on 12/29/2020 & rated 91 points: Notes écrites plusieurs jours après dégustation
Plus maconnais que chablisien. Citron confit, crème brulée, belles notes d'élevage qui ressortent. Maintenir l'autre bouteille quelques années en cave. (1974 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio

Chablis

Chablis (Fédération de Défense de l'Appellation Chablis) | Chablis (Burgundy Wines)

2014 Vintage Notes:
"... a hybrid of 2004/2007 and 2010. The stone, citrus and limestone amalgam is exactly what we search for in Chablis as the style harkens to a day in the Cote de Beaune proper (1960's - 1980's) when wine was not meant to be consumed the week it was released, battonage was not used by all and new oak was rarely seen ... the texture is natural and 'of the vintage' not 'of the winemaker' .... Like Sancerre or the Loire in general, 2014 in Chablis is one of those rare years with extract and transparency. It appears to be a vintage for the "neoclassic" ages and those of us intent on cellaring the most terroir-driven (but still powerful) examples of vineyard, site-place and varietal will want to invest (heavily) in the magnetic and electric 2014's." - Jon Rimmerman

2018 Vintage Notes:
"There’s not that razor sharp Chablis acidity in 2018,” says Patrick Piuze. “But there is good definition of place. The dry conditions drove vines to drink deeper down in the soil profile."
