Tasted by corkscrews on 4/18/2024 & rated 93 points: A nose of dark fruits and spices, dark purple in color. A medium to full bodied red, with black cherry, cassis, berries, licorice and spices on finish, was very good. Drink now. www.winelx.com (134 views)
Tasted by tcarter on 11/28/2023 & rated 94 points: This is very clearly a "baby Reva." Great bang for the buck IMO. Really enjoyed this wine. Drank with grilled marinated hanger steak. (759 views)
Tasted by Ridgerunner on 6/29/2023 & rated 93 points: This stuff is still better than most other winery's syrah. Only difference is you can consume it in one decade! (957 views)
Tasted by hoservin on 5/7/2023 & rated 92 points: Aerated with a Vinturi and decanted for one hour. Nose of ripe blackberry, blueberry, bramble, anise and spice. Black and blue fruit, bramble and spice on the palate. Long, fruit forward finish. Full bodied. Served with grilled marinated tuna steak. (610 views)
Tasted by Ridgerunner on 3/12/2023 & rated 94 points: Gosh, this is their entry level wine? This is better than most premium Rhone wines made in CA. In a sense, I think it is just a nod to value. (960 views)
Tasted by wicozani on 1/9/2023: Opened an hour before pairing with seared and oven-finished extra thick bone-in pork chops simply seasoned with olive oil, salt, and pepper. A dark purple in the glass without bricking. Cassis, black cherry, dark plum, underbrush and oak spices on the nose. Surprisingly medium-bodied on the palate. Indeed, this did not stand up to the lightly seasoned pork chops. Perhaps should have been decanted but there were not noticeable tannins. Will pick a Bernard Magrez red next time with this dish. (892 views)
Tasted by Vasily on 8/9/2022 & rated 95 points: Beautiful wine. Lovely nose with notes of cherry blossoms. Palate features strong intense fruit upfront but without undue sweetness. Black cherry, dark plum, fresh pine, graphite form the dense body. Subdued tannins. High alcohol but does not overpower the overall experience. (1331 views)
Tasted by carstenf on 2/23/2022 & rated 92 points: We got Confit de Canard & the wine did match the food. Very dark color and blueberry notes with grafit ( mineral ) Heavy wine but not sweet and the 15.5 % did not ruin the wine. Respect (1620 views)
Tasted by Bouzaid on 2/8/2022: This is a great wine with any food (1278 views)
Tasted by Jonathan T on 2/4/2022 & rated 94 points: This was awfully tasty. The overall beauty and purity of fruit lets you know that it's the younger sibling of Reva. And even though it is less complex, I think this Patrina is certainly more fruit-forward and comes off as prettier than Reva. Reva has some meaty, minerally, herbaceous notes that, while I personally love, turns off some people to Alban. For those, this Patrina may be more up their alley. (1218 views)
Tasted by glassofhans on 12/21/2021 & rated 94 points: Perfect drinking window now (1192 views)
Tasted by andrewdodd86 on 11/1/2021 & rated 95 points: Better than the last bottle I had. Started off a little closed and chocolate one note like the last one but this has blossomed with a decant. More fruit comes in, raspberry, violet and black cherry. Drink now-2025 (1247 views)
Tasted by ddingley on 10/18/2021 & rated 92 points: Medium to full body, some nice herbal and mild spicy notes to go with rich red fruit, tannins smooth and everything in balance. In excellent drinking window. (1020 views)
Tasted by BunnyLV on 5/23/2021 & rated 92 points: Classic syrah! Black fruit, smoky meat and cracked black pepper! Medium to full bodied with nice finish. Highly recommended! (1630 views)
Tasted by Millennial Drinkers on 2/18/2021 & rated 92 points: Deep purplish ruby red. Layered nose coated in olives, black raspberries, cherries, gunpowder, lavender and graphite. Medium tannins (6/10) and a full body. Dark red berries on the palate with olive undertones, pencil shavings and crushed gravel. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2026. (1933 views)
Tasted by ravbik on 2/16/2021 & rated 94 points: Classic (1420 views)
Tasted by yaCellar on 2/14/2021 & rated 93 points: Olive, smoke, and sweet blackberry throughout. Silky tannins. Ready to go. (1335 views)
Tasted by hoservin on 12/28/2020 & rated 92 points: Decanted for 30 minutes. Aromas of blackberry, black plum, vanilla and bramble. Black and blue fruit, gamey meat, bramble, spice and fine tannins on the palate. Long finish. Full bodied. Served with sesame tuna. (1316 views)
Tasted by jazzwineman on 11/20/2020 & rated 97 points: A "big boy" wine. Similar to Pax. Just below the level of early 2000's Martinelli Syrah!
Nose of plum cake, blackberry, blueberry, toast and clove, smoky spice with dried rose accents and a touch of forest floor earthiness.
Tastes like blackberry, blueberry, red currant, plum, passion fruit, mineral, light toast, black pepper and nutmeg. Low tannins and acid in perfect balance. 15.5% alcohol and totally integrated.
Finishes with flavors of black licorice, hint of chocolate and subtle earth.
Practically flawless. Amazing Syrah. Luscious and intense without being heavy or overbearing. This is at least a 30 year wine.
As always, got a 24 hour decant ad without would have been a much lesser wine. (1479 views)
Tasted by dpolzien on 7/12/2020 & rated 93 points: Ready to go after 3 hours in the decanter. This is definitely ready to go and would be a great gateway wine for big cab lovers who are ready to open their minds a bit ... shows what Syrah can do in the hands of great winemakers.

Pours a dark purple and retains the intensity to the rim. You wouldn't think this is 7 years old at this point. Plenty of blue fruit, but also plenty of acidity to keep it going. Held up just fine on Day 2. In the window now, and figure it easily has another 5 years in front of it.

Paired this with hanger steaks and Wagyu NY Strips (2200 views)
Tasted by Arch57 on 5/30/2020 & rated 92 points: I’ve been Coravin drinking a couple of glasses over the past few weeks and popped the cork on a half full bottle tonight to go with grilled burgers.
This shows best when given some air and still sipping a glass while writing this note. Intense blueberry aroma with a mouth coating finish. Bit of heat but that should be expected from Alban. (1955 views)
Tasted by pjhr on 5/24/2020 & rated 92 points: Rich dark fruit and spice on the nose and brooding palate with resolving tannins on the long, slightly hot, finish. (1690 views)
Tasted by gmbdds on 4/29/2020 & rated 91 points: Well made in the big, forward style. Dark berries and licorice notes. Nicely integrated at this point and does not enter boozy or hot territory. Drink for delicious fruit and don't sweat the rest. (1886 views)
 Tasted by jckingery@gmail.com on 3/27/2020 & rated 96 points: Superb (2119 views)
Tasted by pjhr on 3/26/2020 & rated 93 points: Similar tasting notes to previous bottle, but better integrated hiding the ETOH on the finish. (1444 views)

Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
