Tasted by John McCabe on 4/14/2024 & rated 93 points: This has improved quite a bit over time, now showing more sweetness and secondary notes. Mainly red-fruit driven. Good value. (246 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 11/1/2023 & rated 92 points: This continues to improve, snowing beautifully now, with a bit of stone and smoke, framed by brambly fruit. Good value. (733 views)
Tasted by tristand on 9/2/2023 & rated 92 points: Confirming my previous opinion. Excellent (570 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 7/7/2023 & rated 92 points: Better than before. The power is starting to ease up and some beautiful fruit is showing through. Has a savory aspect that is welcome. The quality here is becoming more apparent and so too is the value. (852 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 3/18/2023 & rated 91 points: A bit firm and drab, maybe not bad value though - will try and give them more time. (1036 views)
Tasted by tristand on 12/24/2021 & rated 92 points: Better impression than previous bottle.
Red fruits, cherry, plum, Very expressive on palate.
Still potential to improve. (1733 views)
Tasted by jfjette on 11/2/2021 & rated 88 points: Ok not great, taste good but no noze (1445 views)
Tasted by jfjette on 11/2/2021 & rated 64 points: One bottle wasted, the cork was very pourous and lead to turn the wine (1571 views)
Tasted by Costes76 on 6/15/2021 & rated 92 points: Straightforward but a rush nonetheless with ripe blackcurrant, dark chocolate and expresso. (1753 views)
Tasted by tristand on 4/30/2021 & rated 90 points: Nice flavour of red and black fruits on nose and on palate. Well balanced. Will improve with a few more years. (1461 views)
Tasted by ChristoBretts on 1/15/2021 & rated 90 points: Medium body. Dark fruit on the nose. Some minerality and a touch of sweet fruit on the palate, tannins very tame. A good value for an every day wine, particularly for BDX. (1203 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 9/24/2020: Smells like wonderfully dusty Bordeaux. And tastes like it too. Good structure, its all there. (1770 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 8/13/2020 & rated 91 points: Better than previous bottle, this was a bit light and thin but quite pleasant and inviting. Some crushed rock, sweet fruit. Good value. (1723 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 6/26/2020 & rated 90 points: A bit austere at first, red fruit and crushed rock. Opens up a bit with decanting. Needs a few more years to show better. 90+pts. Much better on the 2nd day - much more resolved and unfurled, had light red fruit, and a slightly salty saline aspect - much more ready to drink on the 2nd day while the first day was too tightly wound - wait three more years at least or decant longer. (1470 views)
Tasted by ChristoBretts on 5/6/2020 & rated 89 points: Two hour decant. Medium body. Closed nose for the first few hours, opened up to dark fruit, palate has a bit of funk, almost barnyard, but this dissipated after a while. Tannins surprisingly soft for a 2015. Decent qpr for an every day wine. (1362 views)
Tasted by curtr on 3/23/2020: Approachable, smooth tannins, elegant, can be enjoyed now-2028. (1377 views)
Tasted by Psdycp on 10/19/2019 & rated 89 points: An easy going Pessac, soft red and black fruits, tobacco, red bell pepper and hints of dried herbs. Elegant palate. Clean and smooth for a 2015 on a medium bodied structure, transiting to an aftertaste of espresso beans and fresh plums. Tannin is velvety. Ready to drink now with half an hour of decanting and will offer good drinking window for the next 5-8 years. (1349 views)
Tasted by bboard on 10/5/2018: Group tasting several reasonable priced bordeaux. Decanted for 1.5 hours, all elements seems tied together reasonable well. Fruit forward but has the finish. Reasonably priced C$63 - would try again in the future (1785 views)
Tasted by Macki on 8/7/2018: Very fruity nose, new world style, lots of oak, Despite it’s new world nose, this is actually tasty Bordeaux. Taste the merlot in this more than the cab. Iron on palette. Great way to introduce NW wine drinker to Bordeaux. (1891 views)
Tasted by PanosKakaviatos on 5/3/2016: Feeling Pessac-Léognan pizzaz, appreciating dry extract #bdx15: whites and reds (Bordeaux, actually tasted during en primeur week): Pleasing red fruit aromas with light notes of fine milk chocolate. It starts with a soft attack leading to a smooth palate. Perhaps a tad too polite? In any case, pleasing claret that seems almost already ripe and ready. 88-90+ (4448 views)
Tasted by Jeff Leve on 4/23/2016 & rated 90 points: Fresh, ripe, soft fruits, medium-bodied and refined on the palate, this wine could definitely improve once it's in the bottle. 89 - 91 Pts (2924 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

History of Bordeaux

History of 1855 Bordeaux Classification

"2009 is all about ripeness, with wines impressively packed with ripe fruit and high alcohol levels. They are showy, in-your-face, and full of pleasure. The 2010s have the fruit and alcohol levels of the 2009s, but with a compelling freshness on the finish that balances the fruit and provides a perfect sense of structure." - Ben Nelson

"2016 is a landmark vintage in certain spots of Bordeaux and it should be remembered as one of the most inspired campaigns of the last 40-50+ years." -Jon Rimmerman
"The quality of red Bordeaux in 2016 was universally lauded – although the response to the en primeur campaign was muted. Quantity was high too, with the equivalent of 770 million bottles of wine produced. An exceptionally dry summer with cool nights eventually, thanks to mid September rain, resulted in small, thick-skinned, ripe grapes, and the wines are marked by high tannin and acidity, with superb aromatic fragrance." - Jancis Robinson

"2017 was complicated, but there are some excellent wines. Expect plenty of freshness and drinkability from wines that will offer excellent value, and others that will rival 2016 in terms of ripeness and ageability. But they are likely to be the exception not the rule, making careful selection key." - Jane Anson

"In the past, a vintage such as 2022 may have been overripe, raisined and low in acidity but 2022 had a sneaky little reservoir in its back pocket - a near perfect marriage of cool/cold/rain the previous winter and the previous vintage that literally soaked the soils (a key to why 2022 is not 2003...or 1893)." - Jon Rimmerman
