Gently bubbly with elegance and not dominated by baked apple aromas of some aged chenin. (1056 views) | | Tasted by bags on 6/15/2020: either this isn't a great vintage or it's not quite ready. (1483 views) | | Tasted by TannicBeast on 7/20/2019 & rated 89 points: This was my first dry, sparkling Chenin Blanc, so I don't have much of a reference point. Nice fruit, acidity and minerality, with a surprisingly slightly bitter finish. Good QPR. (1667 views) | | Tasted by Vanja1 on 7/13/2019 & rated 88 points: Tiltalende petillant med et sammensatt of friskt uttrykk. (1683 views) | | Tasted by Ebrim on 6/27/2019 & rated 88 points: short note - flint, lemon, smashed stone, very mineralic nose, apples, floral, melon, well structured, delicate bubbles, medium finish, very good quality 88p (1638 views) | | Tasted by rossi.wine on 9/18/2018 & rated 88 points: Not too much on the nose, round, gentle, generous and smooth with good acidity and a nice mineral streak. Medium length. 87-89 (1655 views) | | Tasted by bajayngo on 8/9/2018: The best f the 3 bottles I had. Nice chalky smarties candy, elderberry, sea foam, citrus and nice tight buckets that lasted throughout the bottle. (1175 views) | | Tasted by bajayngo on 4/3/2018: Citrus, sea bed, tart and tangy, good bubbles, not overly complex but great food sparkler. (1134 views) | | Tasted by bajayngo on 4/3/2018: Consistent with prior bottle but a lil more generous fruit. (1184 views) | | Tasted by Vino Me on 1/13/2018 & rated 90 points: Bottled at 2.5 atmospheres (versus 5-6 for Champagne). 100% Chenin Blanc. Purchased for $25. Light yellow color. Black licorice notes with elderflower and green apples. A rich and fuller bodied sparkler. Clean finish. 90 points (1455 views) | | Tasted by rikipedia on 11/28/2017 & rated 85 points: Terroir-istes International - France, Loire, Domaine Huet (The Fat Butcher, Stellenbosch): (Tasted Blind): Light yellow with a fine mousse and tiny bubbles. Earthy and farmyard aromas dominate, with hints of wet dog, and wet wool that slowly reveal custard apples, Gala apples and nuts. Medium-weight, the wine is chalky with a dried apple pith texture. It feels lighter than expected, with a crisp-ish acidity, resembling biting into a slightly floury apple. The finish is relatively short. Reasonably good, it closes with a touch of honey drizzled on apple. 12.5% Alc (158 views) | | Tasted by grantsky on 7/21/2017 & rated 89 points: Restaurant Purchase; Pop n Pour. I drink alot of Foreau, so I'm used to a more aged, richer syles of Vouvray sparkling. This is very precise, mineral driven, but lacks the complesity of the Foreau offerings. It is still quite enjoyable, but I perfer Foreau, for around the same price. I will stick with the still wines from Huet. (1420 views) | | Tasted by GrandeSerataFuori on 7/21/2017 & rated 87 points: Yeasty with a hint of lemon/apple. Somewhere between round and crisp. Not a ton of depth. I quite enjoyed this though, yet barely worth price point to me. (1538 views) | | Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 5/13/2017 & rated 89 points: A private lunch (Restaurant De Librije ***, Zwolle, Netherlands): Gentle mousse, silky and elegant, tuff minerality, marries ripe fruit, yeasty intensity and good varietal typicity, harmonious and balanced, fresh yet supple, good length. (1820 views) | | Tasted by ravikalaga on 5/6/2017 & rated 88 points: PnP at Zuni. Served not as cold as Huet demands; needed a bit to come around. Very round mouth feel unlike the 05 which is razor like. Glug glug wine, maybe just the vintage not being that great. (1128 views) | | Tasted by Milliontown on 4/19/2017 & rated 91 points: Not particularly vibrant at first but a few glasses in and the varietal character emerges. Golden yellow colour, tropical fruit esters combined with hints of oak, as well as creamed honey, brioche and parmesan. Lightly sparkling, mouth-filling bubbles with noticeable but not searing acids. Interesting. Good value. (1262 views) | | Tasted by drwine2001 on 12/30/2016: Mild effervescence, deep yellow. This seems much riper and rounder than vintage such as 2005 and 2010 with real Chenin Blanc weight. Lightly yeasty, perceptible dosage, already a hint of oxidation. All in all, it comes across as a bit dull. (998 views) |
