Community Tasting Notes (average 93.8 pts. and median of 94 pts. in 31 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by benjamin96 on 3/9/2024 & rated 92 points: Pycm classique, on sent une belle cuvée, mais la patte du vigneron etouffe un peu le terroir. (276 views)
Tasted by Shum on 2/12/2024 & rated 95 points: Chiseled and glossy signature of PYCM with the salinity/white florals of Meursault. Hugely concentrated yet weightless at the same time - gave no indications of a ripe year. Drinking really well now. (340 views)
Tasted by Philippe_C on 9/24/2023 & rated 94 points: Nez de citron, leger fumée, accacia flower... Très concentré mielleux, citrus and mineral, lenght of 45 sec. (643 views)
Tasted by Lucien on 6/24/2023 & rated 93 points: Double decanted and drunk over 3 hours. Lovely nose. Citrus notes, minerality and slight salinity. Very precise. Long long finish. (677 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 11/24/2022 & rated 95 points: During the La Paulee in Meursault so only brief impressions. From MAG. Generous palate, cream and oak married with great acidity and lemon zest. Classic. (1548 views)
Tasted by llink on 8/18/2022 & rated 95 points: PNP, but tucked 1/2 of the bottle away to revisit tomorrow. Pale yellow with a slight green tint. This is a wow nose displaying flint, match stick, lemon and white flowers. Deep palate, tons of energy complemented by a slightly creamy, glycerol laden texture that is a joy to savor. Granted this is from a warm year, but for a wine with serious palate presence and texture, this is amazingly chiseled and racy. Impeccable balance. Lingering lemon rind finish and lots of acid. Outstanding.

Update on 8/23. I left this wine in the fridge for 5 days, in a 1/2 bottle sealed with a vacu-vin enclosure. If anything this has stepped up a notch. It resisted oxidation, still displaying a flinty, lemon infused nose and an absolutely rocking palate that is rich yet light on its feet with a ton of energy. Bravo! (1003 views)
Tasted by fizz on 6/18/2022: Impromptu dinner at home: Pear, peach, flint, mineral, floral. Refined yet generous. Balance and texture. Looking in fine form. (1190 views)
Tasted by BradE on 5/5/2022: I simply love PYCM's 2015 Perrieres. The nose alone is worth the tariff, and the palate is gorgeous. A great vintage. (1162 views)
Tasted by steinersing on 3/19/2022 & rated 95 points: 3 hours double decanted. Flint und gun powder nose. Quite intense and precise palette. Very long. Excellent. (1066 views)
Tasted by HowardNZ on 1/3/2022 & rated 95 points: Notes on Wines from December 2021 (Wellington, NZ): Fully decanted three hour before serving. Served by me unmasked because someone identified the wine from the capsule. I chose the 2015, rather than the 2014, of this cuvée on the evening because I hoped it would be more open and accessible. A typical PYCM bouquet. Mineral, mealy, flinty, citric, showing lovely white florals. On palate, the 2015 is not far behind the 2014 in quality and cellarworthiness. Dense, concentrated and chewy. That exquisite balance between full, ripe rich fruit and direct, energetic acidity. Superb quality. Ideally though hold until at least 2023. Scored partly based on potential, 95+. (1542 views)
Tasted by BradE on 12/19/2021: From mag. Decanted for two hours, then back in the bottle for lunch an hour later. Like previous bottles, this drank beautifully and elicited lots of positive comments. PYCM did very well indeed with Perrieres in 2015. (1005 views)
Tasted by Alex G. on 11/26/2021: Crisp, tense, and refined with a long finish. This was drinking brilliantly served from magnum. (955 views)
Tasted by BradE on 7/15/2021: Killer plus, an intense and pleasurable wine. Likely very long lived. Decanted for ninety minutes, and would have benefitted from three hours. (1284 views)
Tasted by steinersing on 4/24/2021 & rated 94 points: Nice early drinking wine - we opened the bottle 3 hours ahead which was worth it. (1428 views)
Tasted by nihraguk on 12/31/2020: Balanced, full bodied but with a mineral finish. Drinking well. (1399 views)
Tasted by mye on 10/2/2020: Dang this vineyard is just tasty. Up front a touch of that PYCM reduction but blew off with air. On the nose it was lovely - pear, green apples, and as it warmed up, peach, lychee, and a hint of cinnamon. Lush, ripe, but not heavy. Well balanced with plenty of acidity. Coats the palate, and lingers. Only issue was a bit of heat on the finish. Overall an excellent wine. (1464 views)
Tasted by BradE on 9/4/2020: PYCM's 2015 Perrieres is lovely, and a bright spot for 2015 white burgs. (1569 views)
Tasted by Jammy Wine on 12/23/2019 & rated 91 points: The Meursault Perrieres is one of my favourite wines from PYCM. The 2015 PYCM Meursault Perrieres is showing gorgeously today. Tasted blind – A pure array of white orchard fruits, crystalline minerals, and reductive struck match nose. Full bodied with expressive fruits and bright acidity. Excellent winemaking. (91/100) (2326 views)
Tasted by BradE on 8/19/2019: From magnum. A great early drinking Perrieres. Love it. (1968 views)
Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 1/16/2019: A beautiful nose of ripe peach and melon, hazelnut cream, flint and spice. It is dense and compact in the mouth, with a brilliant line of minerally acidity and great texture. It finishes with chalky cut and has superb drive and length. Still extremely youthful. (2344 views)
Tasted by BradE on 11/4/2018: From magnum. I've had this twice now, and both times I really liked it. It's youthful, but fully expressive. I will continue to drink these as the 2014's mature. Really lovely juice. (2308 views)
Tasted by Barry Rothof on 9/9/2018 & rated 93 points: Gouden Kalf @ Den Haag: Expressive, silky and concentrated, underpined with brigth citrus, stony acidity which balances out its voluminousness. Less terroir-driven but totally delicious! (2430 views)
Tasted by Burgaddict on 9/7/2018: Leiden in Scheveningen’s Gouden Kalf: Mineral, citric nose, very deep, a bit salty. Later on more stone fruit. Taste lots of concentration, at first a bit tight showing mostly minerals, in time it opens up showing multi-dimensional tones. Very fresh and clear wine, typical perrieres. (2036 views)
Tasted by BradE on 6/5/2018: A trio of 2015 PYCM - Perrieres, Batard, Chevalier. (Bellecour, Wayzata MN): A delightful trio of 2015 PYCM. All decanted for four hours, then re-bottled to bring next door to dinner. The Perrieres stole my heart, and was the most accessible of the three. It drank well without apologies, notwithstanding some comments on the "15" vintage expression. On first sip upon opening, it was all citrus and less intensity. But with the air time we gave it - four hours in the decanter and two hours in the glass - this delivered a classic young expression of Perrieres, with all the precision, minerality, and energy to fully harness the fruit. A lovely bottle, and one we'll contrast with the 2014 very soon in a side by side. Can't wait for that. (2142 views)
Tasted by fizz on 4/8/2018: Pale straw. Nose is really engaging - hazelnuts, cashew, stone fruits, florals. Opens out more with time in the glass. The palate shows width and restraint together. There's a depth here, and some creaminess but it's balanced by a touch of wet stone on the finish. Acids are not prominent. It's lovely right now. (1803 views)

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey

Producer Website

After leaving his family domaine in 2005, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey has established himself as one of the rising stars of Burgundy. Pierre-Yves has built a strong reputation for crafting exquisite white Burgundy that display energy and vitality. The white wines are whole bunch pressed, fermented with natural yeasts, aged on lees for up to 18 months in mostly in 350 litre barrels with no lees stirring and no filtration. More recently Pierre-Yves has sourced Pinot Noir from some exceptional vineyards further north in the Cote d'Or, and these are also exciting wines true to their appellation. The corks used come from one tiny supplier and are extra long and extra wide (55mm x 25mm) for the village, 1er cru and Grand cru wines and are untreated with no paraffin and the bottles are then sealed with soft wax to ensure no problems with premature oxidation. The resulting wines are built to age classically up to 10 years or more.

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
