Tasted by andrew.cameron on 10/18/2023 & rated 96 points: Great condition for a 19 year old wine. Colour is deep ruby with the slightest touch of garnet. Loads of fruit and spice. Red and black plums and cherries, plum pudding, baked raspberries, dried black cherries, black pepper, rich dark chocolate, hints of leather and tobacco leaf, vanilla, cedar.
Lingering finish with fruit and savoury notes.
High alcohol, medium + to high acid. Full bodied, pronounced flavour intensity.
Will continue to develop in bottle. Enjoy now and drink through to 2030 or 2035. If corks are as intact as this bottle. (318 views)
Tasted by andrew.cameron on 8/20/2023 & rated 94 points: At it’s peak or just over the edge, complex tertiary characters with just a little of the primary fruit still showing through. Enjoy! A (298 views)
Tasted by andrew.cameron on 7/29/2023 & rated 94 points: Cork, decanted an hour. Rich red cooked red fruit drinking well now. (285 views)
Tasted by andrew.cameron on 11/14/2022 & rated 91 points: Decanted for 40 minutes. Lovely balance with well integrated tannins. Cooked red fruit and unmistakable Barossa pepper and spice. Developed well over an hour or so. (529 views)
Tasted by rmcnees on 6/24/2020 & rated 90 points: Consistent with earlier tasting notes, at sixteen years of age, this is aging gracefully, but starting to show its age with slight signs of diminution of the fruits.

Upon opening it was slightly obtuse with a bit of an edge, but over the course of an hour it opened, softened and became more approachable.

Dark inky purple color, full bodied, thick, chewy layers of aromatic flavors of tangy black fruits, raspberry, black cherry and black currants, accented by tones of clove spice, graphite & hints of creme de cassis on a smooth polished moderate tannin finish.

Tasted by rmcnees on 10/9/2017 & rated 92 points: Dark inky purple color, full bodied, thick, chewy layers of aromatic flavors of tangy black fruits, raspberry, black cherry and notes of blueberry, accented by tones of clove spice, graphite & hints of creme de cassis on a smooth polished moderate tannin finish.

Tasted by red.red.vino on 11/4/2016: Confused.com with this one. This is Two Hands Bella Garden's sister wine (i.e. Barossa, RRP $60 range) made under the BCH label. Quite a bright, lively purple, still youthful in appearance. 90 mins in the decanter and this was quite tart and unapproachable. 4 hours in it starts opening up a little, 5 and half hours in unfortunately the bottle was emptying, just when it started coming to life.
Quite remarkable really, but then again I stand by my comments/reviews that Bella 04 also needs more time.
Hold this one guys, try again say early 2018. (3194 views)
Tasted by rmcnees on 8/6/2016 & rated 92 points: Dark inky purple color, full bodied, full aromas and flavors of black fruits, a hint of raspberry and blueberry, accented by tones of graphite & mineral on a smooth polished moderate tannin finish.

Tasted by Jakubd01 on 2/20/2016 & rated 92 points: Just great fruit. Mellowed tanins no earthy tones. Just fabulous (3536 views)
Tasted by wconnolly on 10/19/2015 & rated 89 points: Deep garnet color. Still plenty of spice on the pallet but has softened and become better integrated. This has probably aged as well as any Shiraz in this price range save for the 2004 Hazy Blur Baroota (2999 views)
Tasted by wconnolly on 5/25/2015 & rated 89 points: Opaque indigo color. The edginess this had in earlier years has given way to a balanced, layered Shiraz. It has lost some of its fruit but now evidences additional depth and balance. Clove, pepper and some mushroom on the palate. Smooth, integrated tannins and a medium finish with a touch of oak.  Tasted by laxman on 1/1/2015 & rated 87 points: Good structure, but not expressive. Fruit is gone. I remember this being an overpowering fruit bomb the last time I tried it, but that was in 2006. Happy that the wine has settled down a bit after eight years, but it seems to have settled down too much. Not much of interest there anymore. Have one bottle left, but will not save it for any sort of special occasion. Not offensive, but very forgettable. (1947 views)
Tasted by 3daywinereview.com on 10/29/2014 & rated 93 points: As I do so often I try wines on day 3 and thank goodness I did with this. No longer thin and astringent on the palate. Roasted meat, spices, berries and floral notes. Complex, long finish. Excellent wine.

Lovely nose of charcoal, boysenberries, raspberries and floral. On the palate it is a bit astringent. Medium finish. Hold. (2004 views)
Tasted by jfolbe on 3/2/2014 & rated 94 points: Amazing right now. Cassis and red man tobacco chew. (2424 views)
Tasted by wconnolly on 2/15/2014 & rated 89 points: Medium purple in color. Fragrant nose of pepper, cinnamon and a hint of clove. Dark fruit on the palate with a round, silky smooth finish. (2118 views)
Tasted by gmbdds on 12/31/2012 & rated 91 points: Tasted double blind. I knew this was an Aussie shiraz right away. Not because it was only fruit but it had a characteristic tart, tangy, sleek profile. The nose was pleasant with some licorice. The palate had the fruit and the finish showed some cedar notes. I thought it was very nice, though I still enjoy some of these unfashionable wines. (3078 views)
Tasted by wconnolly on 11/4/2012 & rated 88 points: This has softened some (pleasantly) since my 2/5/12 notes. Still very fruit forward and spicy...a super accompaniment to barbecue pork, chicken and brisket. Some of the edge has gone and this is now better balanced. (2713 views)
Tasted by angelo619 on 3/31/2012 & rated 89 points: A nice wine overall. Good color, nose, mouthfeel. Loaded with red fruit notes. Drinking very well now. Would have scored higher if not for an uncharacteristic acidity/sourness present in this barossa shiraz. (3390 views)
Tasted by michigan dogs on 2/18/2012 & rated 85 points: my experience surely didn't measure up to others, it was ok, smooth, but nothing special (3006 views)
Tasted by wconnolly on 2/5/2012 & rated 88 points: Deep indigo color in the glass. Clove, some fruit and spice on the nose. Full of blackberry and black raspberry on the palate with significant minerality and pencil lead. Still a fruit bomb at 8 years. Accompanied by Sopresata, Gouda, guacamole and chips as a Super Bowl prelude. (3105 views)
Tasted by Dar3 on 8/23/2011 & rated 90 points: Powerful. Full. Pepper on the finish. Can taste the alcohol a bit but still delicious. 90+ (2818 views)
Tasted by wconnolly on 7/23/2011 & rated 90 points: Deep purple color in the glass. Huge mouth feel but not quite the "coat your tongue" feel that a Ch. Tanunda might have. Still delicious. Deep, dark berry with more than a hint of minerality. Seems to have developed some balance with age but very big none the less. (2908 views)
Tasted by scsmith6 on 2/12/2011 & rated 96 points: Wine was simply one of the best I have tasted in a long while. 2 years ago - different wine - now smooth, many flavours, tremendous length - the flavours just keep on coming - very tasty - hence less food friendly - but a mind blowing wine - highly recommended. (3300 views)
Tasted by msitka999 on 12/18/2010 & rated 95 points: Fantastic! Just coming into its own now. Decanted for 15 min only, opened up nicely. Tannins are still there but lightly. DARK fruit and a little jammy.
This was a pleasure to drink and I cant wait to open another. Ridiculously smooth and classy.
Wont get any better (3777 views)
Tasted by jonnyc on 9/13/2010 & rated 91 points: It is a very well put together wine...just not my taste. Sweet nose, lots of black fruit.Tons and tons of candied-fruit and silky tannins, which easily hide the 15% alcohol. Finish is shorter than expected. Will likely flip/gift remaining bottles. Shiraz

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | Varietal character (Appellation America)

Single Vineyard

The wine takes its name from a single vineyard owned by the Scholz family, in the northern area of the Barossa Valley. This single vineyard Shiraz is a great example of vibrant Barossa fruit. Dense dark fruits and a hint of chocolate. An exercise in opulence.

Elegance and fineness wines, sourced from a single vineyard, planted to develop a specific variety.

The vineyard surrounding the 1905 built Ebenezer church in Barossa's north are defined by a distinct bright red clay soil. The Scholz vineyard has a remarkable lack of variation across this block. This area of the Barossa is renowned for its richly flavoured Shiraz with intense and luscious middle palate flavours. The wine from the Scholz Estate vineyard is an excellent example of this.
