Tasted by wforster2@gmail.com on 10/14/2016 & rated 88 points: too sweet for drinking alone, treat as a dessert wine.
golden deeper color - in style of Noble late Harvest but not as much alcohol. not a stand alone wine, drink with food only (1242 views)
Tasted by Rowchan on 2/15/2014 & rated 92 points: Clear, midway between Apple Juice and Whiskey colors, slow subsiding on the glass with almost no legs, pale yellow rim.
Clean, full intensity, aromas of brown sugar, candied apples, and maple syrup.
Semi-sweet to sweet, no tannins, med- alcohol, full-bodied almost syrupy, med acidity, wonderful complexity, further tastes of sharp apricots, bananas, mangoes, over-ripe peaches, Turkish delights and a kaleidoscope of petit fours. Wonderful with any pudding, especially the creamy ones. A very special wine drank on a very special occasion. (1889 views)
Tasted by Easter Everywhere on 8/1/2009: Very nice, melon, grass (2160 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 1/9/2009 & rated 88 points: Chronicle: Good, but lighter style, pineapple, pear juice; not a lot of complexity but solid. (2403 views)
Tasted by johnnyrichardson on 12/25/2008 & rated 88 points: Nice, clean & fresh tasting, what anuncomplicated mid-price white Bordeaux should be. Perfectly structured for drinking right now. Their Sauternes is pretty good too... (3349 views)
Tasted by Mr T on 12/14/2008: Last bottle and really a treat. Hopefully the 2006 in my cellar will be as good (2356 views)
Tasted by Mr T on 6/12/2008: Decent white bdx, nothing tremendous (2047 views)
Tasted by jimkay21 on 5/19/2008 & rated 90 points: Still very enjoyable, crisp with the grapefruit and acidity. Held up fine into the second night. (1814 views)
Tasted by Mr T on 3/16/2008: Enjoyed my most. I didn't really get to taste it (1846 views)
Tasted by vinoceros on 2/9/2008 & rated 86 points: Repeat. Not as crisp again. A little bitter on the finish. Still drinkable, but I think it's getting past it's prime. (1956 views)
Tasted by jimkay21 on 9/29/2007 & rated 88 points: Enjoyable, crisp tropical fruit-tinged, but a tiny bit of bitterness on the finish. (2089 views)
Tasted by vinoceros on 8/24/2007 & rated 88 points: Repeat, but not quite as crisp and the flavors were a little muted. Time to drink up! (2141 views)
Tasted by annsalisbury on 6/29/2007 & rated 85 points: Crisp and light. (1605 views)
Tasted by vinoceros on 6/14/2007 & rated 90 points: Fantastic wine for the price! As others have said, very grapefruity, crisp, and perfect acidity. (2333 views)
Tasted by N2Vin on 2/18/2007 & rated 90 points: nice, lots of grapefruit, apple andoak. Clean and bright finish (2844 views)
Tasted by snaff on 1/29/2007 & rated 90 points: Delightful floral notes, honeysuckle and rose. Crisp acidity. A delightful (although not typical) white bordeaux. (2955 views)
Tasted by Brian1970 on 1/15/2007 & rated 88 points: Tastes of boysenberry, guava, dry. Wonderful, complicated - each sip is different. (2875 views)
Tasted by en_kierkegaa on 1/9/2007 & rated 92 points: This wine is not unctous or disjointed as some have stated. It's classic bordeaux. Solid acid, an almost floral note (not classic). Steely green flavors with a touch of oak (not overly so). If you are looking for Cal oak on a SB, look somewhere else. At such a low price point, it's hard to dislike. Wonderful food wine with roast chicken or some light fish. (2749 views)
Tasted by cse on 12/20/2006: i adored this wine in the last vintage i had (was it 2002?), but the 2005 is hard to handle: unctuous, overoaked (the 2002 was pretty oaky too, but not this bad), yet with a nice mineral backbone and almost-adequate acidity. it's a big mouthful, but quite disjointed as of yet. maybe it will come together in a year or two? but don't get your hopes up: the 2002 was best young, and after a couple years the oak became overwhelming. so i'm not sure if this will amount to a hill of beans in the end . . . (2740 views)
Tasted by JBVino on 12/19/2006: Suprised by both the natural sweetness in the wine and intense acidity...but given both it works. Not completely sure how to enjoy this wine or what food but well made and balanced wine. (2862 views)
Tasted by elfez on 12/17/2006: Not my cup of tea; I think white bordeaux just aren't my thing. (2718 views)
Tasted by N2Vin on 12/17/2006 & rated 91 points: Light yellow-green tinge, this 80% Savignon Blanc. 20% Semillion dry white Bordeaux from Sauterne has attractive notes of grapefruit, lemon rind, flint, a bit of oak, and a distinct smoked meat or lit match to it.
The palate shows an unctous combination of steeley citrus flavors, powerful acidity, a long and clean finish with a blast of sweet green apple skin.
An enjoyable white Bordeaux from a top notch Sauterne producer with a distinct and enjoyable character. At around $12 per bottle, this is a very attractive wine. I think it will drink well over the next 3-4 years. (2891 views)

History of Bordeaux

History of 1855 Bordeaux Classification

"2009 is all about ripeness, with wines impressively packed with ripe fruit and high alcohol levels. They are showy, in-your-face, and full of pleasure. The 2010s have the fruit and alcohol levels of the 2009s, but with a compelling freshness on the finish that balances the fruit and provides a perfect sense of structure." - Ben Nelson

"2016 is a landmark vintage in certain spots of Bordeaux and it should be remembered as one of the most inspired campaigns of the last 40-50+ years." -Jon Rimmerman
"The quality of red Bordeaux in 2016 was universally lauded – although the response to the en primeur campaign was muted. Quantity was high too, with the equivalent of 770 million bottles of wine produced. An exceptionally dry summer with cool nights eventually, thanks to mid September rain, resulted in small, thick-skinned, ripe grapes, and the wines are marked by high tannin and acidity, with superb aromatic fragrance." - Jancis Robinson

"2017 was complicated, but there are some excellent wines. Expect plenty of freshness and drinkability from wines that will offer excellent value, and others that will rival 2016 in terms of ripeness and ageability. But they are likely to be the exception not the rule, making careful selection key." - Jane Anson

"In the past, a vintage such as 2022 may have been overripe, raisined and low in acidity but 2022 had a sneaky little reservoir in its back pocket - a near perfect marriage of cool/cold/rain the previous winter and the previous vintage that literally soaked the soils (a key to why 2022 is not 2003...or 1893)." - Jon Rimmerman
