Tasted by James Kim on 12/7/2019 & rated 88 points: Brief impressions from a wine tasting of current release. Solid effort with tart apples and some minerals. (1141 views)

Tasted by Lype on 10/5/2017 & rated 88 points: A -70s NV, oxidised, no bubbles, toasted flavours, sherry, nuts and honey. Nice despite the age and the fact that this probably should have consumed decades ago. (574 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 12/10/2016 & rated 91 points: A private tasting (Restaurant De Ertepeller, Papendrecht. NL): Old bottle, label suggests mid to late 1990's disgorgement. Full yellow, lively appearance; rich and fresh nose, citrus and brioche, lemon curd, hint of white mushroom, holds up perfectly in the glass, hint of honey, juicy and fresh, nice vinosity, very good length. A remarkable survivor. (2341 views)
Tasted by graemeg on 10/9/2016: Singapore Airlines - Business & Lounges; 10/9/2016-10/12/2016 (Sydney, Singapore, Frankfurt): Hefty sort of nose; lots of yeast character, and chardonnay/white-fruit characters are dominant. It’s medium/-full-bodied; definitely to accompany food. Intense, focussed bubbles certainly become furious in the air. The fundamentally rich – and chardonnay-driven – nature of the wine remain. Hefty finish, something of a bruiser. (1510 views)
Tasted by bestdamncab on 10/23/2015 & rated 89 points: Birthday Dinner at Yan's China Bistro with the wine group. Nose of lovely fruit, nice mousse, medium size bubbles, simple, tasty, good acid, medium body, medium finish. (1239 views)

My #2 of 7. (1224 views)

Charles Heidsieck

Producer website
From the very start, the wines of Charles Heidsieck managed to seduce the royal courts of Europe. Today, the House’s wines are awarded the highest accolades by professional juries across the world. The quantity of medals and trophies regularly earned by Charles Heidsieck is simply extraordinary. The winemaking team has been awarded the “Winemaker of the Year” trophy nine times by the UK International Wine Challenge. Régis Camus joined Charles Heidsieck in 1994 and has been the head winemaker of the House since 2002. This meticulous and passionate professional likes to keep an eye on everything: the state of the vineyards, the selection of the grapes, their pressing and their vinification, cru by cru, in individual vats. His mission is to perpetuate the Charles Heidsieck style, reflecting the richness of the Champagne region.

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
