| Community Tasting Notes (average 89.9 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 7/19/2023: Funny combination - aged tobacco and the also some dark cherry to it. (508 views) | | Tasted by ChairmanKao on 11/15/2022 & rated 95 points: ABV: 13.5%. Beautiful wine, but still VERY young. Classic notes of leather, roasted herbs, and tea leaves mixed with dark fruits (think plums and black cherries) on the nose. Ample acidity on the mid-palate with plenty of tannins, but the fruits are clearly evident and coming around as it slowly opens. Finish is a bit short due to the tannins, but this wine has MAJOR potential. Decant this wine for several hours before serving, but I'd say to be patient until the 15-year mark before opening a bottle.
11/17/2022 - Raised the score by three points (from 92 to 95). Forgot that I had this bottle open so I retasted it 48 hours after it's been open and wow ... it's absolutely exquisite! The herbacious nose has subsided, revealing the core of dark fruits (think black cherries and plums). The tannins have softend on the mid-palate and the acidity has integrated further as it continues to lift the fruits. The finish is much lengthier than two days ago, and now there's a umami-like profile at the finish. This is a fabulous wine and now I definitely think that waiting until the 15-year mark will be extremely rewarding. (509 views) | | Tasted by Lyubomir Lefterov on 1/16/2022 & rated 91 points: Youthful colour, ruby to garnet, but on the young side. Dark berries, black cherries, and spices (from the oak) on the nose. The mouth comes with more freshness and some green tones (the vintage?!), medium weight, moist and welcoming. This vintage is meant to be for early drinking, hence I opened it, but based on this bottle, optimum drinking window is 2025-30. Another bottling that defys the vintage. (743 views) | | Tasted by bucktooth22 on 6/27/2021 & rated 90 points: Dark ruby. Long legs, strong graphite & tart raspberry fragrance, weak cigar box, weak soft cheese, weak minerality. Dry, light body, highly acidic, high frontal and side gripping. Throat burning sweet finish. (933 views) | | Tasted by Doc90 on 1/18/2020 & rated 89 points: Smells and feels like Chianti. Some hints of balsamic, cherries, interesting river stone. Soft and welcoming, widely liked. (1178 views) | | Tasted by Inukytucky on 6/26/2019 & rated 91 points: Actually a 2013.... spicy, floral...soft velvety tannins. Not cheap but worth it. (1136 views) |
