 Tasted by Rifkin417 on 2/10/2024: Robin's 56th, at Gaucho Seattle (300 views)
Tasted by CGC2012 on 6/11/2022 & rated 89 points: Purchased direct from winery and stored in climate controlled cellar. Opened and tasted then decanted for 1.5hrs. First taste at open was very nondescript. Good but unremarkable. Over the 1.5hrs it opened up a lot, but never displayed the finesse other vintages have. This had a very delicate personality with decent structure. If paired with food, it will likely fold. On it’s own it is solid but not as expressive as I expected. The 2000’s of Three Palms Merlot and cabs are far more enjoyable. This wine did not have much to discuss. (1287 views)
Tasted by GJVines on 4/12/2022 & rated 93 points: Very nice bottle, opened at restaurant (from my cellar) approx. 20 minutes before drinking. Nice and open, lots of dark fruits. I think this is in a good drinking period right now. (1377 views)
Tasted by RustyI on 4/4/2021 & rated 95 points: Excellent!! (1979 views)
Tasted by Livermore Dan on 10/18/2020 & rated 96 points: So incredible. Yet I would lay this down another few years and I think it will be even better. (2163 views)
Tasted by rougeamore on 7/25/2020 & rated 93 points: Nose of blackberry, cassis, licorice, cigar box. Blackberry, plum, licorice, vanilla, bourbon flavors develop mid-palate with a lingering finish. Supple tannins, velvety mouthfeel. Excellent wine (2311 views)
Tasted by DrBad on 6/24/2019 & rated 93 points: Big, smooth, rich and velvety. An elegant wine. Blueberry, licorice and cocoa with a medium long, warm finish. (2779 views)
Tasted by GJVines on 8/19/2018 & rated 91 points: Not quite ready in my opinion. Better in a year. Good complexity, decent finish. (3177 views)
Tasted by Twopawsup on 3/31/2018 & rated 93 points: Deep ruby color with slow legs. Toast, french oak and baking spices on the nose. Plum, mixed berry, black cherry and red pepper on the palate. Long silky finish. Significant aging potential and should get better with more time. (3044 views)
Tasted by AlexHop on 9/30/2017 & rated 94 points: Nose is toasty graham crackers. Vanilla and bourbon. Spice and a little fruit hiding behind some silky tannins. (3428 views)
Tasted by Stanner51 on 5/4/2017 & rated 94 points: Lay this down as long as you can. (3454 views)
Tasted by Mesoman on 4/11/2017: As compelling as it is complex, this elegant wine effortlessly combines lovely pure fruit flavors with silky tannins and nuanced savory notes. Aromas of red and black currant, acai, strawberry rhubarb and black cherry rise from the glass, along with hints of sweet baking spice, sage vanilla and fresh-baked pie crust. On the palate, rich round tannins add depth and sophistication, while aging in French oak imparted a lovely mouthfilling creaminess that adds length to a supple and lingering finish. (2798 views)
Tasted by Miltonbradley on 4/1/2017 & rated 93 points: Wonderful (1959 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
