Poussiéreux, moisi, notes minérales, épices et fines herbes...boudeur et noir. Un vin qui a du caractère avec son grenache à 90 % : ample, rond, texturé avec des tannins souples. Finale de longueur moyenne sur des notes légèrement amères. Magnifique avec la nourriture...cassoulet aux canards et porc. If you can imagine a cherry cheesecake, that's what we have here. No hint of garrigue at all. The palate does add a hint of garrigue; and orange zest toward the finish but is otherwise consistent with the nose.
Medium + body with medium tannin and medium + zippy acid. Overall, this is a very clean CdP but missing some of the non-fruit flavors that make these wines so attractive to me. While the structure argues for drinking this now, I think some more tertiary flavors would benefit this wine. To my palate, then, I would argue it should age 2-5 more years. AOC Red Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Hautes Brusquières
Grape varieties : This cuvee is made up of Grenache (70%) and Syrah (30%) The vines are between 30 to 50 years old. Situation and soil type : All the grapes come from the Brusquières plateau, in the north of Châteauneuf du Pape, where we can find the famous round pebbles and a clayey subsoil Vats : Wood and stainless steel with temperature control
Vatting : Since 2000, we have decided to destem and to crush all grapes Vatting lasts 3 to 5 weeks, depending on the vintage at a temperature between 25 and 30°C A release or a punching of the cap is done every 2 days and pumping over every day. The malolactic fermentation happens in barrels and vats. Ageing : Ageing continues in barrels and big oak tanks during 12 – 18 months depending on the vintage. Tasting : This is an atypical cuvee in terms of its complexity of aromas: deep spice, black fruit flavors and chocolate notes are overlaid with leather and a wild complexity. This complex nectar needs a long cellaring to 15 years from vintage. Further information: The cuvee bottled without filtration is stocked in our warehouse air-conditioned at 16°C.

"As I have written many times in the past, the sweet spot for drinking Châteauneuf du Papes is usually the first 5-6 years after the vintage. Then they seem to go through an adolescent, awkward, and sometimes dormant stage, only to re-emerge around year 10-12, where the majority of wines are often fully mature. The best of them will continue to hold on to life (but rarely improving) beyond 15-20 years. It is only the exceptional Châteauneuf du Papes that will evolve for 20-25+ years, and those are indeed a rarity. However, things may be improving dramatically in terms of the longevity of Châteauneuf du Pape, although Grenache-dominated wines, the vast majority of wines produced in the appellation, are wines that do not have the polyphenol (extract and tannin) content of top Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, or Syrah-based wines. Nevertheless, the younger generation in Châteauneuf du Pape has taken seriously the farming in the vineyards. There are more organic and biodynamically run vineyards here than in any other appellation of France. The yields, which were already low, are even lower today (20-35 hectoliters per hectare), and of course, the proliferation of top luxury and/or old-vine cuvées gives a significant boost to the number of wines that will evolve past 25 or 30 years. The advantage of these wines is their broad window of drinkability." - Robert Parker
