Community Tasting Notes (average 90.2 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 30 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Tahlequahdave1972 on 9/20/2020 & rated 90 points: Received as a gift. Wasn't sure what to expect as the cork disintegrated upon opening. Amber gold in the glass. Aromas of ripe apricot and petrol. Floral notes with a sweetness that does not overpower. Well balanced with a lingering finish. Pour me another dessert in the glass, please! (1361 views)
Tasted by jedly on 4/13/2011 & rated 90 points: Delightful. slightly effervescent. Pear and Peach, but not overly sweet. (6153 views)
Tasted by rentmp3 on 12/21/2010 & rated 89 points: Beautiful yellow color. Nose was fragrant with ripe bananas and yellow stone fruits. On the palate was loads of banana, apricots and peaches, a little vanilla and butterscotch. Had really great acidity which prevented the wine from being cloying. Not a very complex wine and hence, not a 90+ pt wine, but a nice, easy drinker. (6127 views)
Tasted by Papies on 8/2/2009 & rated 89 points: A nice take on the Moscato D'asti style. Less sweet than the typical MdA with a very nice mouthfeel. Still lacks the big nose of the cerreto's of this world. An enjoyable wine and can hold its own. (6201 views)
Tasted by judgepalmer on 7/7/2009 & rated 91 points: still surprisingly youthful and developing some second tier flavors like honey in addition to the bright stone fruit that's been there all along. glad I still have two more! (6412 views)
Tasted by Vinophyte on 3/15/2009 & rated 93 points: Very nice! (5394 views)
Tasted by Tommy429 on 2/3/2009 & rated 91 points: not overly sweet, nice fruit (2392 views)
Tasted by rwstorer on 1/18/2009 & rated 88 points: Good bottle and what I expected. A nose of peaches, vanilla, green apple and honey. Smooth flavors of honey and stone fruits (peaches, apricots). not 'syruppy' or overly sweet. Nicely balanced and still youthful. Served with Canoli. (2310 views)
Tasted by Cobbster on 1/10/2009 & rated 89 points: Sweet peach nose; more juicy peach with a hint of green in the finish. (2363 views)
Tasted by JR_Boston on 11/27/2008 & rated 95 points: Oustanding - my favorite dessert wine (2473 views)
Tasted by Combee1 on 9/4/2008 & rated 86 points: Pale yellow with green highlights. Very generous and pretty nose of apple, pear, white flowers, and apricot. Very light on the palate with apricot on the attack and green apple on the finish. Lacks the crisp acidity and weight of a serious dessert wine, but fun and very pleasing to drink. Well priced (B). (2282 views)
Tasted by wino_tim on 7/17/2008 & rated 87 points: Fragrant and deceptively light, showing notes of ripe pear, apricot and perhaps a touch of citrus blossom. Supple acidity keeps this from being overly sweet and the finishes drags on with some pretty guava-like notes. A little coarse in texture, though. (2363 views)
Tasted by Vinophyte on 6/20/2008 & rated 90 points: Very nice! (2524 views)
Tasted by Vinophyte on 6/6/2008 & rated 90 points: Very Nice! (2546 views)
Tasted by MarkDaSpark on 3/1/2008 & rated 92 points: Excellent! Most enjoyable as a dessert wine. (3119 views)
Tasted by ipp on 1/12/2008 & rated 93 points: di (823 views)

Tasted by jackarmando on 8/13/2007 & rated 90 points: Surprisingly good. Smooth, mellow taste and less cloying than many D'Astis... (3071 views)
Tasted by Radu43 on 8/6/2007 & rated 90 points: great dessert wine. Apricot noise and palate with nice finish. Great QPR. (2977 views)
Tasted by judgepalmer on 7/20/2007 & rated 90 points: Sweet yet not overpowering, a refreshing dessert wine option for those that can't stomach botrytis. (2958 views)
Tasted by darice on 7/12/2007 & rated 90 points: Pale straw color, almost clear; nose has citrus, peach, spice, and lime. A sweet, medium body with an array of fruit including pear, grapefruit, peach, lime, and hints of apple. A very well-balanced dessert wine. (3025 views)
Tasted by ipp on 5/10/2007 & rated 93 points: complex for a simple, refreshing muscat ... diana loved it (824 views)
Tasted by The Bittners on 4/21/2007 & rated 90 points: Wow, ligth fresh. Apricot and floral tastes, rich and full body (3354 views)
Tasted by SWatson on 4/11/2007: I don't drink enough sweet whites to really score this with any kind of precision. Nose of green apples and mineral water. Tastes, well, sweet. Enjoyable enough for the $14 it cost. The wife (for whom I buy such bottles) liked it. (3015 views)

Muscat Canelli

Varietal character (Appellation America)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
