Like a movie you finish watching, wishing you could get that time back for something else. There is a wine I didn't discover tonight that I should of had instead... (587 views) | | Tasted by VinoHunter on 2/7/2021 & rated 85 points: Again, too much mint and menthol flavors. I swear the nose was nacho cheese...maybe its the style I don’t care fore, but all 4 bottles were disappointing. (733 views) | | Tasted by VinoHunter on 12/17/2020 & rated 87 points: Mint/menthol nose with not a lot of fruit and too much acidity. Drank over two nights and every sip I was hoping for more fruit. (681 views) | | Tasted by VinoHunter on 3/15/2020 & rated 88 points: Better this time around(365 days ago, ha!). Typical Australian cab profile that was very smooth. (838 views) | | Tasted by VinoHunter on 3/15/2019 & rated 87 points: Similar experience to last time, nothing special, but nothing offensive. (1202 views) | | Tasted by VinoHunter on 5/26/2018 & rated 87 points: Typical Australian cab aroma and flavor profile. Wish there was a little more fruit and finish. Quick 30 minute decant. | Xanadu Producer websiteCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonAustralia Wine Australia (Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation) | Australian Wines (Wikipedia)Western Australia Wine Regions of Western AustraliaMargaret Riverhttps://margaretriver.wine/ |
