(1531 views) | | Tasted by EMichels on 1/4/2018 & rated 84 points: Natural nose; Flat profile; Slightly sweet (1686 views) | | Tasted by ESTEELE90 on 1/1/2018: New Year's Eve dinner tasting. Brief note. Pours a pale orange tinged rosé in the glass. Reticent nose gives way to citrus and very gentle tart red fruits on the palate. Good acidity. Simple wine but would be great in the summer. (1825 views) | | Tasted by fred o. on 12/31/2017: light pink color; served blind, immediately guessed skin contact pinot gris. acidic and funky, tart. I like this style of wine personally but can see it being polarizing. Great with fatty food and with a chill. 91 pts (1975 views) | | Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 11/12/2017 & rated 91 points: A private lunch (Restaurant Meliefste, Wolphaartsdijk, NL): From a 2ha plot in Campo Rotaliano and Mezzolombardo, aged on the skins for eight months in amphorae, on average 10,000 bottles are produced. Medium orange colour; fresh and mineral nose, strawberry, raspberry, perfumed soap, hay, hint of spice; mineral and elegant palate, seamless and rounded, gentle bitters from the skins, lovely stuffing of ripe fruit, touch of boiled sweets; good resonance and length. As a wine this is very much on trend, but unlike many other orange wines, this is impeccably made. Kudos to Elisabetta Foradori. Delicious strawberry and fruit, good acidity. Got more balanced as it opened up. (194 views) | | Tasted by DK Amateur on 9/15/2017: This is perhaps the weirdest good wine I've had. It is 100 % pinot grigio and technically an orange wine raised (or whatever the term is) in amphorae. It is slightly hazy and redder than most rosés, and at first it smells like a pinot noir; then shows a hint of perfumed soap; then tomato puré, and it takes on a mineral and savoury character. Quite impressive in the mouth, soft and airy, and with more body than the 12.5 % alcohol would indicate. The finish is astringent but that is the only way tannin is perceptible; acidity is low. It is quite a pleasure to drink in on its own. Decanted two hours and drunk out of Zalto Burgundy glasses. Good food wine.
The rest was drunk on the second day. When warming it releases aromas of apples, varnish and then an undefinably wonderful perfume that is not precisely of a French raspberry or strawberry tart but somehow evokes the synthesis of fruity aromas, acidity and rich caramelised and sweet millefeuilles. Long aftertaste that in the end turns gently into beery yeasty aromas. Not weird at all, just extremely interesting and attractive, especially in the way it sits on both sides of the fence between red and white wines. (770 views) |
