Palate is medium bodied with fully integrated tannins, black and blue fruits, balanced and longish finish (1672 views) | | Tasted by KJD45$ on 2/14/2022 & rated 93 points: Nose is dark ripe cherry, black tea… Blackberry, ripe bing cherry, nice mid palate with some tea notes… Very good finish with a nice balance of fruit tannin and minerality.. Wine got better with air… (1583 views) | | Tasted by pkouchu on 1/27/2021 & rated 92 points: blackberries, black cherries, ground coffee, peppercorn, bell pepper, olive, baking spice, toasted oak and mocha
nostalgic wine for me. I used to drink tons of this when I was first getting into wine. Always delivers in my opinion. Loved it when it was $50 or so, getting pricier these days which puts it against stiffer competition. (2582 views) | | Tasted by Jay_R on 4/18/2020 & rated 92 points: black cherry and juicy blackberries, with slight sweet chocolate and vanilla on the nose, palate - plum and blackberry, currant, and oak. A bit young but delicious!! (3014 views) | | Tasted by CdrCabernet on 12/27/2018 & rated 92 points: Bold, fruit-forward Cab. Nice complex structure with layers of flavors. Nice long finish. (3231 views) | | Tasted by greekwineaux on 12/27/2018 & rated 90 points: Not bad, but won't buy again. (4884 views) | | Tasted by markandsusanw on 12/23/2018 & rated 91 points: Splash decant…Lovely nose of fruit and spice; Opens with some blackberry fruit, but doesn't overwhelm. Just a hint of cream, some spice and a little smoke on the back. All very well balanced with an acid pop. Definitely New World style, but no fruit bomb. Very well made, if a bit on the expensive side. (3102 views) | | Tasted by jamton34 on 6/1/2018: Good cab from Napa, dark fruit, creamy middle. (2587 views) | | Tasted by pdev on 6/1/2018 & rated 93 points: Full throttle, juicy and dark, nice toasty oak, without leaning to far towards the vanilla. Maintains nice balance and a nice mix of red and black fruit, lovely oak spice. Well done (3484 views) | | Tasted by J.S on 2/13/2018 & rated 91 points: Tasted at the Napa Valley Custom Crush, Solidly typical central Napa wine, lots of dark fruit, mostly blackberry, hints of chocolate and spice as well (oak influence, I believe 100% new oak, though likely not top of the line oak as it wasn’t perfectly integrated.) The finish shows medium plus tannic structure, this should age well. All in all nothing overly memorable, though not a bad bottle of wine, prices about right. | Ghost Block Producer websiteCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonEstateIn the United States, "Wines with “estate bottled” designations must: a) also designate an appellation of origin or an AVA, and both the vineyards and the winery must be located there; b) the grapes must come from vineyards owned or controlled by the winery; and c) the wine must have been produced, from crush to bottle, in a continuous process without leaving the winery’s premises."
- WINE LABEL FAQS: A QUICK SUMMARY OF LABEL DESIGNATION RULES" by David E. StollUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Oakville |
