| Community Tasting Notes (average 90.6 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 75 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Derek Darth Taster on 4/27/2024 & rated 92 points: Part 2 Produttori del Barbaresco 2009 horizontal. Starter. Aired in bottle for 1 day already. Drank in Conterno Sensory. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of earth, green capsicum and stem, dark herbs, blackberries, black cherries, dark violets. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of rustic earth, capsicum spices, green herbs, blackberries, black cherries, smoky tobacco. Long finish. Very good quality. I am quite forgiving of green notes nowadays, and when not overly dominant, they add to the overall complexity character. Nice Cab Franc. Bernard Baudry always reliable. (503 views) | | Tasted by Bakerbd on 3/19/2024 & rated 91 points: Cassis, cedar, violet, leather. Med body, med acid, soft resolved tannin (819 views) | | Tasted by timewithwine on 3/15/2024: This wine rests pretty in the glass with it burgundy translucence extending from rim to core. Distinct but somewhat muted notes of cranberry and raspberry lift from the glass along with some mushroom earthiness. Some sandalwood and cinnamon appear as the wine opens. All the same on the palate and continuing through the finish. The dominate note is the crunchy cranberry flavor. A solid wine but not delivering as much as I would have expected from this vintage. A shadowy streak of sediment runs along the side of the bottle. 13% alc. With assorted blue cheeses, Appalachian cheese and crusty bread. 03.15.24. Recommended. (736 views) | | Tasted by Hanibal on 2/17/2024 & rated 91 points: tasty juice... (918 views) | | Tasted by Goodwine4ever on 1/29/2024 & rated 94 points: Wowowow, quel vin incroyable a prix doux ! D'une grande finesse, nous avons droit à un Cab-Franc pure, sans note végétal ou de poivron, légèrement viandé mais en total harmonie avec l'abondance de fruits rouges et noirs. Le vin possède des tannins hyper bien intégrés, une acidité à point, bref un vin spectaculaire pour 35$ Dans son ultime sweet spot en ce moment (907 views) | | Tasted by cvst on 12/15/2023 & rated 92 points: Appears young at first with some astringency, wild cherry and licorice on the nose, bell pepper on the palate. After a short while the nose changed to more dark cherry and the wine became more perfumed. Give it a bit time to breathe and this is drinking wonderfully. Notes thereafter were black and sour cherry, raspberry, black currant, dandelion, wet moss, graphite and crushed rock. With some upside potential but delicious now (664 views) | | Tasted by rocknroller on 12/10/2023 & rated 92 points: Annual Tasting Group Holiday Party (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Very dark red color. PNP, drank a glass over an hour plus. Cherry, currants, soil, a little herbal on the nose. Darker fruit on the palate, more black cherry, touches of blue fruit, iodine, and some dark red fruit too. Nice, more introspective. (862 views) | | Tasted by GAET on 12/9/2023 & rated 92 points: 100% Cabernet franc, non filtré Très beau vin à maturité La robe : relativement claire, évoluée avec des reflets orange. Belles larmes fines. Très bien ++ (718 views) | | Tasted by Bakerbd on 8/5/2023 & rated 91 points: Cassis, cedar, blackberry, wild herbs. None of the typical greenness I associate with Loire cab franc. Nice, but perhaps missing some character (1043 views) | | Tasted by CWilliam on 6/27/2023: Bright red color. On nose, cigar ash, gravel, red currants, wet leaves (and with air green bell pepper). On palate, similar savory profile with bright red (cranberry, black cherry) fruit. Medium body/acidity, tannins and long finish. Very enjoyable and aging beautifully. 92+/- (1083 views) | | Tasted by Seafoam Manor on 2/3/2023 & rated 91 points: Very consistent with prior bottles of this. Riper fruit and less pyrazines than I typically expect. This particular bottle has a higher degree of brett, but more in a leathery sense, which, for me, is "good bret" and doesn't stray at all into the poop range. Despite coming from a riper vintage, this is still on the lower end of medium bodied and I think it clocked in at 13%abv. Personally I prefer these with a touch more green, with more of a strawberries and basil sort of thing, but this is really just a half step up from that. Lots of life left in this, drink or hold. (1305 views) | | Tasted by Julian Marshall on 11/12/2022 & rated 88 points: Once again, lots of brett at first, both on the nose and the palate, but it did fade after a few hours. Even so, there was still a lingering sense of brett on the nose, with leather and spices dominating the attractive red cherry. Quite a bright attack of red cherry and blackberry, with an elegant middle section and a decent finish. Definitely a step-up from the Domaine 2015, but a little lacking in fruit and substance. Very enjoyable but no star - still good value at 14€. 88 pts (1371 views) | | Tasted by Steven84 on 9/23/2022 & rated 82 points: Kalkoen (kerst) fruitig, mooi zuurtje. Middellange afdronk. Lichte houttoets (1280 views) | | Tasted by Seafoam Manor on 6/9/2022 & rated 91 points: A classically styled wine from a hotter vintage make this a nice wine for the Cab Franc curious, who may not be ready for a full pyrazine bomb. The green notes are there, but they serve to lift a hefty amount of bright red fruit and lively warming spices. This is on the bigger side if you were going through a vertical of Grézeaux's, but is still very recognizable to the producer, region and terroir. Right out of the gate, this was drinking in a very youthful manner and really needed an hour of air and a bit of a chill to hit its stride. Tons of life left in these. Excellent value. (1410 views) | | Tasted by AudunG on 3/27/2022 & rated 88 points: Delicious aromas of blackcurrant and some barnyard. Nice structure. (1311 views) | | Tasted by poppacork on 2/19/2022 flawed bottle: There’s a musty veil obscuring the otherwise elegant cassis, light cherry, and bell pepper. Well structured with velvety tannins and good acidity. Sadly this seems to be lightly corked. (1364 views) | | Tasted by EvoPeteMTL on 1/20/2022 & rated 90 points: Less concentrated, less extracted and structured than the Clos Guillot I tasted last week. More pale, light and more nature and brett'ed than the Clos Guillot again, but nonetheless, a very good wine for the price. (1760 views) | | Tasted by d'Yquembe Mutombo on 12/25/2021 & rated 90 points: Very fine Cab franc from top loire producer. Drinking well now but will be much better in 3-5 years and should hold for another 10. If opening now, plan ahead to decant to tame the reductive sulfur. These Grezaux’s are built like a tank. Bombproof. (1396 views) | | Tasted by FrancoisC on 9/11/2021 & rated 91 points: Besoin d'être bien aéré pour s'ouvrir! (1703 views) | | Tasted by CWilliam on 6/5/2021 & rated 92 points: Placeholder for consumption - wrote a note but need to find it...
Really enjoyed this bottle. Aging well. (1750 views) | | Tasted by angryphoton on 5/19/2021 & rated 89 points: Quite a bit young, dark fruit and sweet funky notes that get calmer with air. Very primary at the moment but was still enjoyable. Lots of typical Chinon characteristics but more on the riper side and less of the green leafy side. (1002 views) | | Tasted by Sennma on 2/27/2021 & rated 89 points: Excellent QPR but would hold these a bit longer more maximum upside. (1970 views) | | Tasted by Derrik on 12/4/2020 & rated 91 points: Great elegant rural cab franc that is easy drinking with a lot of approach. Needs 1-2h of air. Very fine and balanced (2100 views) | | Only displaying the 25 most recent notes - click to see all notes for this wine... |
