Tasted by Teknsteel on 4/21/2024 & rated 92 points: Deep ruby. Subtle nose and palate. Bakning spices and red fruit on the former. Add licorice and pencil shavings on the latter. Maybe a note of tobacco leaves too. Not enough weight for it to come highly recommended by me, but not bad. (367 views)
Tasted by RJHump on 3/8/2024 & rated 93 points: This is drinking great! I love it and would be happy to buy your bottles at the Cellar Tracker BS value of $45. How do they arrive at these values? This juice is gooood! (770 views)
Tasted by Kentw on 12/31/2023 & rated 92 points: Very nice wine. Medium plus body, very smooth, almost silky at this stage. It is a nice blend of Cabernet with black fruit notes that are in harmony with one another. Very pleasant finish. Friends enjoyed it very much. Maybe peaking, so drink up. (1093 views)
Tasted by Time traveller on 12/26/2023 & rated 90 points: Spot on BV with typical deliciousness. Paired with caesar salad, rare charred T-bones with mushroom demi glace, baked taters and broccoli. Lots to be appreciated in this bottle! (956 views)
Tasted by JScanHunt on 12/13/2023 & rated 92 points: Oh…did I like this one! Big bold fruit flavor with smooth finish. (1138 views)
Tasted by Caveman-Rob on 11/28/2023 & rated 95 points: Outstanding; consumed over 3 evenings and seemed to get better each glass. Black fruit still present and balanced with a sound spine of Rutherford minerality, finishing with a long opulent finish. (1170 views)
Tasted by kabert on 11/23/2023 & rated 92 points: Delicious but could still use another few years to soften a bit more. Blackberry and plums, with some tartness on the back end. Definitely upside with more bottle age or decanting. (983 views)
Tasted by Ryanswine on 10/20/2023 & rated 92 points: Solid cab, especially for <$50. (1044 views)
Tasted by levinml on 7/23/2023 & rated 92 points: Consistent with earlier note from 2 years ago. Great weeknight drinker and value at around $40. Good flavors and depth without too much tannic bite over two nights. Drinkable now but still has upside. No rush. (1558 views)
Tasted by West Chester Wine on 4/12/2023 & rated 94 points: Superb bottle of wine. Smooth start and finish. Full bodied and multi-layered. Dry and firm. (1773 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 2/18/2023 & rated 91 points: Very dark red/purple color with a youthful garnet hue. Decanted for an hour and drank a couple glasses over 2+ hours. Opened this with my parents and sister to have with our pot roast, and it was a nice pairing. Slow to come around and with quite a youthful green streak that didn't resolve for nearly an hour in glass. When it did, this started to shine. Lots of graphite and aromatic menthol, creme de cassis, dark cherry, and some smokey wood on the nose. The palate is full bodied, but not heavy, cassis, tart black cherry, graphite, eucalyptus, and nice oak spice notes. The tannins feel pretty polished and complimentart at this point. As expected, this benefited from some significant air. Drink or hold. 91+pts with some upside. (2336 views)
Tasted by Tym4wine on 1/14/2023 & rated 89 points: Nice aromas. Dark black fruit flavors. Grippy tannins with nice acidity. Medium+ finish. (2008 views)
Tasted by West Chester Wine on 1/9/2023 & rated 93 points: A truly good bottle of wine. Open and let air out for a good hour. Very smooth and pleasant on the palate. Full flavored. Leans toward dry. Excellent. (1736 views)
Tasted by Rond on 1/6/2023 & rated 92 points: Notes of dark cherry, tea, and chocolate. A bit hot. (1394 views)
Tasted by OenophilistMN on 12/29/2022 & rated 91 points: Identical profile to my notes of 4-27-2021, 1-14-2021, 8-10-2020 and 7-13-2020. Holding steady. (716 views)
Tasted by chatters on 11/5/2022: Decanter Fine Wine Encounter (The Landmark, London): Ripe blackcurrant and plum, cedar. Juicy ,with ripe concentrated fruit, woodier tannins…not for me (1827 views)
Tasted by jroberts86 on 10/19/2022 & rated 93 points: Astoundingly good. Lovely nose, dark fruit, rich, layered, long finish. (1404 views)

Tasted by jgnd on 1/2/2022 & rated 91 points: Drinking really well right now, much better than earlier bottles. Purple and black fruit with nice integrated structure. (2627 views)
Tasted by SGates on 12/31/2021 & rated 91 points: similar notes to prior bottle. Was up against a 2007 Montelena so came off as rougher and more bramble but held up well to prime rib and horseradish sauce. (2240 views)
Tasted by Nomadirish on 12/31/2021 & rated 88 points: Always a reliable 2nd wine of the night. (1992 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
