 Tasted by TMBWine on 6/15/2018: Had three bottles in my cellar. First one was somewhat flawed—thin and with a strong acetone nose and taste that never went away.

Pulled the second bottle from my cellar and opened it right away. While still at cellar temperature it had the acetone nose and taste. But as it warmed and oxygenated the acetone disappeared and it developed some interesting floral, red fruit, and slightly leathery notes.

Based on this second bottle, not the best Bordeaux ever but a bit better than the CT scores would lead you to believe. We’ll see what my last bottle is like. Might try decanting to see if that helps. (1319 views)
 Tasted by WE KNOW PINOT on 4/14/2012: Popped & poured...dark reddish purple in color. Very pleasant nose, if a little reserved. Mostly red fruit, with a candy-like quality. Also a little something herbaceous on the nose...mint, eucalyptus ?...almost a bit like fennel. Palate is not very complex, and somewhat lacking in the fruit department, a little black cherry, a little cassis maybe...but that's a stretch! Slight tobacco, very dry with tannins still definitely present, not overpowering. Finish is not especially long. Decidedly old world style. I seemed to enjoy this more than other tasters, though the nose might be the most enjoyable component. (4519 views)
 Tasted by vzang on 11/24/2009 & rated 77 points: Ugh. Earthy nose on a p-n-p session at home, decent depth of color and glass appeal. Hoped for more. Poorly balanced, high acid, modest fruit, very little depth as well. Reasonably long finish but with funky flavors popping up at about 10-15 secs. Small sips work waaaaaaay better than gulps of this thin-lipped miser. Glass got a bit better after 30 minutes in the glass, but with so much awesome wine available, why drink this one? Anyone want mine???? (6044 views)

 Tasted by jimkay21 on 9/26/2007 & rated 87 points: Nice easy going drinker. Wine is from Perissac in the Fronsac region. Dark color, muted nose of sligthly candied cassis. A little thin on the fruit, but acidity is in check and tannins minimal. No green notes. Plastic cork. (6950 views)

 Tasted by jjclips2 on 12/12/2006 & rated 82 points: 2005 Bordeaux Tasting with ExCellars (Specialty Imports): Beautiful bright purple colour. Huge nose of ripe blue and blackberries. Black plum, high acidity, and very mild tannins are the makeup of the palate. The finish has the slightest hint of minerals. Somewhat simple, as regional Bordeaux can be, but pleasant. Cherry comes out in a muted, slightly muddled nose. Earthy, without a lot of fruit. Bitter on the finish. I didn't find this enjoyable. 78-81 (5426 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.
