Tasted by Grateful4Red on 9/12/2022 & rated 93 points: Still sporting some nice tannins. Delicious! (732 views)
Tasted by kevrob822 on 5/10/2022 & rated 92 points: 2nd night. Opened and poured. Very nice, smoother, more balanced, with lots of texture & depth. Nice fruit and oak! Always like what Molly Hill & Mike Trujillo do (did!) with their CS Wines! (868 views)
Tasted by kevrob822 on 5/9/2022 & rated 92 points: Coravin’d a large glass, leaving the rest for tomorrow. Another lovely bottle. I just really like their CS, and always have. I don’t think they get the recognition they deserve. Solid 92 Pointer, and honestly, I grade hard. This wine tickles my taste buds very nicely! (849 views)
Tasted by Rsokane on 4/22/2022 & rated 90 points: Drank with Sam’s parents and with sushi. It was good. I get some slight cherry notes. Upon opening, definitely a little tight. Needs to breathe a bit. (702 views)
Tasted by kevrob822 on 5/6/2021 & rated 92 points: A very nice and solidly made/built Napa CS. Decanted for 90 minutes. Big, rich, dark and exceptionally smooth and balanced. Rich is fruit, primarily black fruit and plum with nice oak, leather and graphite.

Paired this with a grilled (& lightly Red Oak Smoked) Filet Mignon. Not a lot of fat (obviously), but a great combination.

4 hours later it began to fade though. Got a little thicker, fruit faded, but still smooth and balanced. I think at this point of time, this is “decant and drink sort of quick” type of wine. Will probably drink my other bottles within the next year. I suspect this is at its peak, possibly a bit over.

A Solid 92 Pointer and a Very Good QPR. (1463 views)
Tasted by Rsokane on 3/20/2021 & rated 92 points: Drank with Dad and Beth on back patio. Definitely needs to breathe, but much better than the first time we drank a few months ago. Really opened up smoothly and has a great velvety mouthfeel. Very slight berry hints and slight fruit, well balanced. (785 views)
Tasted by Pinkflash on 3/4/2021 & rated 89 points: Smooth -- a nice drinking wine. However, none of us felt it was worth the price. Much better cabs in Napa for less. (762 views)
Tasted by Rsokane on 1/23/2021 & rated 90 points: We agree with another reviewer who said there are better wines at this price point. However, this is really good. Deep red and purple color and strong fruit forward on the nose. Strong alcohol smell, though. Really mellowed out after about 30+ minutes of breathing. A little acidic, but good. Looking forward to aging this a few more years. (808 views)
Tasted by Rsokane on 1/23/2021 & rated 91 points: Had it on Day 2 and it was even better. Still a strong acidic/alcohol smell, but much more mellow on the second day. Bold mouthfeel, fruit forward, but good balance. It’s a good wine. (880 views)
Tasted by Kate Cabernet on 12/18/2020: Drank this evening, not sure I would order it again. For the price there are better Cabs out there. (491 views)
Tasted by Kate Cabernet on 11/17/2019: At 7 years we were surprised by the tannins still in this wine. We would hold this for another year or more. If you want to drink it now, I suggest decanting it. Also, enjoy with something fatty, like a steak, it needs something rich with it. (526 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
