Tasted by cubswinws on 1/15/2023 & rated 90 points: Lovely wine with a hint of honey, flowers and melon. (1222 views)
Tasted by bhouk on 10/24/2020: Consumed sooner than I intended, not because it isn’t ready — it’s delicious right now — but to space out the consumption. Only 2 left. Hands off now for a bit. (2186 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 6/13/2020 & rated 91 points: A private lunch (Restaurant Rijsel, Amsterdam, NL): Wonderfully pure Chenin expression with just a hint of sweetness, delicately honeyed, mature but still fresh, gentle bitters, lovely length. (3165 views)
Tasted by bhouk on 2/9/2020: This was all systems go today. Light gold; completely free of oxidative signs on the nose or palate. A little sweetness is offset by lively, tense acidity, with flavors of tangy orange marmalade and herbs.

This vintage has always shown well. Great poise and balance. I think with three bottles left, a check in late 2022 or early to middle 2023 is a good hedge on a long-aging bet. It surely isn’t going anywhere bad before then. My only question is whether it’s a 20-year wine, or a 30+ wine. If the latter — and I drink sooner — I will still have a lot of enjoyment. I would regret hanging on too long more than I would drinking before it starts its slide, because it is thoroughly enjoyable now. (2379 views)
Tasted by wineismylife on 10/5/2019: WIMLNR

Tasted non blind.

Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of quince and grapefruit rind. Flavors of quince and sherry. Bright acidity, medium to full bodied. Drink over the short term. Not rated. Seemed a tiny bit off. (2438 views)
Tasted by eboracum on 9/21/2019 & rated 91 points: Although very good, this bottle was not quite the exceptional experience for which I was hoping from Foreau in a much praised vintage. Medium bodied but rather shy and bland seeming at first, it took a little time to open up but then it revealed typical burnished apple, wax and quince notes, gentle sweetness, fine minerals, fair acidity together with underlying roundness and backbone. Elegant and harmonious but I think it needed a touch more acidity to provide the vibrancy to lift it into that elusive exceptional experience. (2028 views)
Tasted by DaleW on 8/20/2018: Really a nice showing, midweight and midsweet, apple skin with plenty of wooly waxy Chenin-esque tones, good stony finish. Bright and lively. A-/B+ (1971 views)
Tasted by brooklynguy on 3/29/2018: A good bottle that showed classic and unmistakable chenin wool and mineral and wax, all a bit funky but really very clean and pure. Balanced and with good acidity, lovely wine. (3194 views)
Tasted by pavel_p on 3/18/2018 & rated 91 points: Bottle bought at Domaine four years ago. Not a great cork, half soaked from bottom and soft, with a bit of dark mold on top. Pale to medium yellow in the glass. Fairly sweet but also with plenty of acidity. Candied lemon and even orange peel. Good complexity and length. 91-92 but I prefer my whites more on the dry side. (2290 views)
Tasted by brooklynguy on 12/2/2017: This wine shows much less dense than i expected, it's actually a lithe wine. It's basically still primary with orchard fruit and herbal honey, but there are some woolly notes too, and the finish shows quite mineral. I didn't get a great sense of the wine - need to check in again. (3016 views)
Tasted by jkoenen on 12/12/2016 & rated 91 points: Light golden in colour. Oystershell, wool, pine nuts and steely minerality on the nose. Interestinglythis minerality, showes more saline, briny on the palate. Lovely balance in gentle sweetness and soft acidity. Although it could use some extra depth, length and complexity, I was very happy with a few glasses of this lovely, elegant, off-dry Chenin. (3041 views)
Tasted by Outplaying on 10/30/2016: Good but this was outdone by the Becker Trocken Riesling with the food. Honeyed, typical Chenin notes, a bit sweet and oily. Good with the whole roasted carrot dish. The wine seemed to show more fresh with better cut but not so much with the lobster dish which made it seem a bit flabby. (2636 views)
Tasted by Markus IWC on 9/10/2016 & rated 91 points: Lovely balance of sweet fruit and elegant acidity. Enjoyed with beef tartar, perfect match. (1146 views)
Tasted by Roughl on 6/12/2016 & rated 89 points: I love foreau's wines. The quality you get for the price is exceptional, and the greatest thing about these wines is that they pair beautifully with the finest foods. A nice sweetish salad, or oriental style raw scallops. In some ways this is for me comparable to very good (smaragd) Gruner Veltliner. The apple sweetness and floral notes, combined with some green herbal streaks. Don't recall what I paid for this at the domaine, but pretty sure it was under 20EUR. Like the viognier from les goubert tasted just before this, this had a very nice light "salinité", a saltiness that lifts the wine. Not sure but I would guess that this will drink nicely for well over a decade, given where we are now. No premox bottles yet (luckily). 89 on its own 92 with food and I'm pretty convinced that this is what Philippe Foreau is striving to achieve with his wines! Mental note: plan a new visit before I run out of these. (2939 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 4/22/2016 & rated 89 points: Dinner (Aziza, San Francisco): Light gold color; nose is aromatic, peach, white fruit, slight sweetness, white flowers; palate is medium bodied, hints of green like celery, off-dry, slight white fruit but somewhat lacking, medium acid, honey; medium finish. This is nice and pairs well with food, but it lacks superlative complexity or depth. Not bad for a restaurant wine list. 88-90 (3218 views)
Tasted by cephomer on 10/24/2015 & rated 91 points: 2015 French Wine Dinner (Harrison, NY): Drank at our French dinner party last nite, and was matched perfectly with D's Fall salad with chestnuts & other sweet elements. Turns out that we had this wine last year for the same occasion. My notes are consistent though I enjoyed the wine more this time around. Pale straw-yellow in color. Fairy generous nose of peach, apples & pear. Somewhat light bodied, with just the right touch of sweetness that is nicely matched by a good acidity level. Decent length, and an easy wine to enjoy. Sorry that this is my last bottle as it's a very nice Vouvray. (3770 views)
Tasted by Diane (LI) on 7/10/2015: First bottle was pre-moxed. The second bottle was better., but I am not loving it and I think it might be in the fast lane towards oxidation. (2672 views)
Tasted by mks83 on 1/17/2015 & rated 89 points: Nose: ripe grated red apple, dried ginger, and enoki-mushroom. Seamless detailed texture is completely masking the power and intensity it actually has, like nice daiginjo sake. Loooong quiet finish. Beautifully balanced and complete. Will become more expressive with age, if you have the patience to wait. (2844 views)
Tasted by bhouk on 1/10/2015: Wonderful balance. Juicy, apples and pears; ginger; baking spices; nicely acidic; slightly herbaceous on the finish. All of it is harmonious and integrated in the mouth. Of the Foreau Demi-secs I have drunk (1985, 1988, 1990, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2002), this one is the most complete. The question is how long to keep it from this point. Really great wine, I will likely err on the side of drinking it sooner rather than later, but I'll still space out my four remaining bottles somewhat over the next five or so years. Could improve beyond that, but I just don't think it is worth risking the possibility that it might not continue to be this good. (2506 views)
Tasted by MLD70 on 12/6/2014 flawed bottle: Unfortunately mildly corked, though you could still taste a bit of what a good bottle would be like -- delicious. (2685 views)
Tasted by cephomer on 11/8/2014 & rated 90 points: 2014 French Wine Dinner Party (Harrison, NY): Drank at our dinner party alongside a 1998 Alsatian riesling & sweetish salad. Pale yellow color. Fairly feint nose of peach & some apples. Lighter bodied than I expected, slight sweetness, but well-matched by a good acidity level. Decent length, and an easy wine to enjoy. Could use a bit more bottle age, and not quite as complex as I would have preferred. (2787 views)
Tasted by pavel_p on 6/24/2014 & rated 91 points: Tasting at Domaine Huet and Domaine du Clos Naudin; 6/24/2014-6/26/2014 (Vouvray): A big step up from the 2012 sec. This is a compact wine, still a bit closed in my eyes but with good depth and complexity. Took a bottle out of curiosity to see how it develops. 91+ (3571 views)
Tasted by WMWG on 5/21/2014: Golden yellow in the glass. Yellow orchard fruit on the nose and fore-palate. The palate goes on the show sweet red apples, strong honeyed notes, some petrol, and a touch of butterscotch. Nice acid levels kept the wine upright on the palate, it wasn't flabby or clumsy because of its weight and rich texture. Unlike my last bottle of this, this showed less of a granulated sugar texture. Lengthy finish has some oak that has yet to integrate, which lingers a bit. Potential bottle variation between this and my previous bottle.
Very good - Hold (2297 views)
Tasted by WMWG on 5/10/2014: Deep straw colored in the glass, some natural oxidation. Palate shows candied green apples, toasted almonds, granulated sugar and pears. There is a very sweet, boytrized flavor that is fairly well integrated. This is rather viscous, approaching the consistency of a sauternes, but still fresh and lively. Good to Very Good - Drinking well now but can last longer. (2206 views)
Tasted by Riccardo Malocchio on 10/20/2013 & rated 93 points: Gorgeous, pure, delicious. All is in balance here: the sugars and the acids; the honeyed orchard fruit and the smokey, wooly lining; the energy of the dancing lattice-like texture and the deep linearity of the structure. A wine of crystalline purity and ethereal grace. (3000 views)
