Tasted by jmoon on 10/9/2023 & rated 93 points: Elegant, calm, waxy, poetic rather than intense. (633 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 8/14/2023 & rated 94 points: Light Gold-ish color; caramel, lemon pledge, super tangy, flral, heady, med.+ body with super intensity; lovely elegant yet powerful and long. Tied for #1 with my 07 Dauvissat Preuse. DD, Capital Seafood BH (581 views)
Tasted by finediningnyc on 9/23/2022 & rated 95 points: Having selected Raveneau Valmur of the same vintage the prior night I thought it’d be fun to compare Dauvissat’s Clos. Also with a requested pre-dinner decant, it’s fresh, classic in style, seamlessly balanced between power and elegance and highly aromatic with layers of yellow orchard fruit, citrus blossoms, beeswax and stony minerals. The palate is rich, but not as dense and textural as the Raveneau was, but shows great purity and focus with racy citrusy acids, a sea spray-like salinity and a long mineral inflicted finale. Excellent. (962 views)
Tasted by dbkitc on 6/10/2022 & rated 95 points: (at Magdalena - Baltimore) Herbal, ocean, young coiled. Got significantly better with air. (95++) (1003 views)
Tasted by HowardNZ on 1/15/2022 & rated 95 points: Three Chardonnays at home (Wellington, NZ): In my cellar, the bottle seemed to have a protruding cork, so I opened it that night. Drunk over three evenings, during which it barely changed. Drinking cleanly, with no faults. A Grand Cru Chablis bouquet of white flowers, fine lemon citrus, oyster shell, tide pool, some pear and a touch of spicy oak. In the mouth, classic Les Clos. Serious scale, concentration, structure and length. The flavours were chalky, wet limestone mineral, lemon and grapefruit citrus, iodine and sea breeze. No oak artefact. Long finish with lovely salinity. Relatively open and accessible, yet still fairly young and primary, ideally hold until about 2025. (1677 views)
Tasted by rlove on 9/10/2021 & rated 93 points: Dauvissat's 2016 Clos is surprisingly accessible and unsurprisingly good with a nose that, while certainly ripe, shows plenty of Chablisien character with white florals and sea breeze both dialed up to eleven. Intensely concentrated on the palate, where again there's certainly a richness to this wine but significant acidity and classic structure yield a lively vibrancy. Large upside but very good today. (1410 views)
Tasted by mye on 2/9/2021: Initially pretty closed down. Pretty straight forward chardonnay fruit, good acidity. I"m not sure I get the complexity to warrant the price, but it was a tasty bottle. Give it lots of air if drinking in the near term. (1736 views)
Tasted by danckie on 10/17/2020 & rated 93 points: First day pretty closed down. Opened up with some air but not really singing yet. Saved half the bottle for the next day. My,my, what a difference a day makes. Creamy apple and lemon rind. Piercing acidity, salinity and minerality. Still young but it’s pedigree is definitely showing. Room for upside for sure. (1319 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 1/24/2020: Crunchy, bright and super fun to drink. (1911 views)
Tasted by Burgnick on 4/18/2019 & rated 89 points: Very mineral and acidic with lemon peel, rock, seashell and minerals. Precise and sharp but still one dimesnional at this stage. Nowhere as complex or deep as the 07 Raveneau Blanchots. (1766 views)

Denne trenger tid i kjelleren. 93 poeng. For nå. (2602 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 4/18/2018: Domain Vincent Dauvissat 2016 Chablis (Chablis, France): Lower pitched aromas and the only wine that smelled of pear rather than citrus. Bigger and richer than the Preuses but not as mineral. I thought the acidity was higher, but I was mistaken. Amazing texture and length, with both iodine and soil arriving forcefully on the finish. (2233 views)
Tasted by Harley1199 on 8/30/2017: Flying l'Yonne; 8/29/2017-9/1/2017 (Irancy - France): Always easy, always friendly, never my favourite.
Sensation of aroma of petrol, some green peach without enough sun.
What abounds in fruitiness is lacking in minerality. At least at this point.

Siempre facilón, siempre amable, nunca mi favorito.
Sensación de aroma a petróleo, algo de melocotón verde, sin solear
Lo que abunda en frutosidad falta en mineralidad. Al menos por el momento. (3047 views)

Les Clos

Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos exact outline

Les Clos is arguably the finest grand cru vineyard. Les Clos has greater density and power than the more elegant Vaudésir It is a deep and compact wine. The strong mineral core is of polished steel and this is enveloped in a luscious depth of fruit. If Vaudésir is the queen of the grand crus, Les Clos is the king. It ages wonderfully – a minimum of 10 years. It’s a large sunny vineyard, (28.39 hectares) facing south. It is quite rocky and has a higher level of limestone.

It is also a vineyard in Bussières

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio

Chablis

Chablis (Fédération de Défense de l'Appellation Chablis) | Chablis (Burgundy Wines)

2014 Vintage Notes:
"... a hybrid of 2004/2007 and 2010. The stone, citrus and limestone amalgam is exactly what we search for in Chablis as the style harkens to a day in the Cote de Beaune proper (1960's - 1980's) when wine was not meant to be consumed the week it was released, battonage was not used by all and new oak was rarely seen ... the texture is natural and 'of the vintage' not 'of the winemaker' .... Like Sancerre or the Loire in general, 2014 in Chablis is one of those rare years with extract and transparency. It appears to be a vintage for the "neoclassic" ages and those of us intent on cellaring the most terroir-driven (but still powerful) examples of vineyard, site-place and varietal will want to invest (heavily) in the magnetic and electric 2014's." - Jon Rimmerman

2018 Vintage Notes:
"There’s not that razor sharp Chablis acidity in 2018,” says Patrick Piuze. “But there is good definition of place. The dry conditions drove vines to drink deeper down in the soil profile."
