Eye-wateringly alcoholic, the fruit gets lost in the heat here. Ultimately still good value for the price. Won't last too long from here, drink up! (672 views) | | Tasted by Weinberg Falls on 5/15/2020 & rated 88 points: Clear in the glass with long legs. Red cherry and plum on the nose, oaky and tarry. Bright red fruits, strong seam of acidity and drying tannins on the palate. Clearly from a hot year and heavy on the alcohol. Can’t tell if more aging would mellow the tannis out, or if the fruit would go first. I think the latter sadly. Still tasty with asparagus gnocchi, however weaker than the 03 I tried lately. 88-89 (674 views) | | Tasted by svdheijden on 12/6/2013 & rated 90 points: Very well made, perfectly drinkable now. Round, full, mature, red and black fruit (cherries, kirsch, blackberry), chocolate, some medicinal notes, obviously high alcohol, but good acidity and freshness. (2910 views) | | Tasted by Ary on 10/1/2012 & rated 90 points: Dark colored. Smoke, warm dark cherries, old leather, pencil and some forest notes in the nose. Rich and warm on the palate with loads of dark fruits (kirsch). Fresh and attractive. Wonderful silky tannins well integrated. (3341 views) | | Tasted by fdusonchet on 7/10/2012 & rated 90 points: Magnifique cerise noir cuire. Tanin juteux vin souple et agréable! (3538 views) | | Tasted by fdusonchet on 5/11/2012 & rated 92 points: bois présent mais bien intégré tanin gourmant et bell puissance. (3231 views) | | Tasted by Ary on 5/9/2011: Very nice bottle again from Tardieu Laurent. Full red colour. Vanilla, dark fruit, smoked bacon and medicinal tones on the nose. Very rich and smooth on the mouth. Smokey character. (3708 views) | | Tasted by Villon on 1/29/2011 & rated 89 points: Un CDR moderne, riche, bien fait. (1966 views) | | Tasted by Lvanwass on 3/4/2010 & rated 90 points: Excellent CRD pour 19euros Impatient d'ouvrir une autre bouteille. (1672 views) | | Tasted by Verhagen on 12/31/2009 & rated 86 points: Excellent combination with the lamb we prepared. Dark red colour, dark fruit, good length. (1630 views) | | Tasted by cbuhlman on 12/26/2008 & rated 90 points: consistently good, all bottles have been good (1798 views) | | Tasted by cbuhlman on 10/11/2008 & rated 89 points: same as previous note. this has become our daily drinker of late. It took me a while to figure this out, but it tastes more like a well-made Languedoc than a CdR. I really like this wine. has been some bottle variation though(0 views) (1783 views) | | Tasted by ludwigbpm on 9/28/2008 & rated 89 points: Nez boisé, avec des notes de fleurs et d'épices. Vin savoureux, de bonne concentration mais sans lourdeur. M'a semblé un peu plus en retrait que la fois précédente. (1787 views) | | Tasted by cbuhlman on 5/17/2008 & rated 91 points: The best CdR I've ever had. That said, not at all terroir-driven. very fruit forward, very flamboyant, sexy, this was nothing like I've seen in a comon Rhone. super ripe Kirch cherry, cognac, blackberry mocha chocolate coupled with good acidity and a persistent finsih. I dare say many experienced tasters could not nail this down as a CdR. This was a very delicious wine. looking forward to trying again. Red Rhone Blend Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.
A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
