Tasted by galewskj on 5/13/2024 & rated 92 points: Pop and pour, drank half the bottle over 2 hours. My last of 12 bottles. This remains a big wine and it is regrettably losing some of its freshness now. The vibrant fruit is now dark, brooding, slightly pruney fruit. The style is big and modern, so no huge surprise that the lifespan is short. I may rebuy a newer vintage if the price is right. (249 views)
Tasted by Carteret on 5/9/2024 & rated 90 points: I probably drank this one in the past too soon and felt it was very Californian, i.e. big and chewy. But finally, after some age and decanting, I like it. (197 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 4/9/2024 & rated 91 points: Pop and pour, drank half the bottle over 2 hours. My 11th of 12 bottles. This remains a big wine and it is regrettably losing some of its freshness now. The vibrant fruit is now dark, brooding, slightly pruney fruit. The style is big and modern, so no huge surprise that the lifespan is short. I will finish my last bottle soon and maybe purchase a newer vintage if the price is right. (590 views)
Tasted by Mscruggs on 2/2/2024 & rated 97 points: This wine was in a line up of another dozen large formats including a 2015 Quilceda Creek, 2010 Janasse CDP, a couple of Reserve Prides and it was voted wine of the evening by all in attendance. Tasted the next day and was drinking even better after being opened for 36 hours. (685 views)
Tasted by rahul_d_chatter@yahoo.com on 1/14/2024 & rated 88 points: Getting over the hill. Drink now. Still good, but showing a little age. (659 views)
Tasted by Larsrar on 1/1/2024 & rated 91 points: This wine has improved since tasted last time. Everything has come together in harmony. Big but not clumsy. The 16 % abv is well integrated. Drinking well now but this wine should continue to develop positively over the coming years... (663 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 9/2/2023 & rated 92 points: This was as good or better than previous bottles. We both agreed the 16% alcohol is not detectable, as it is balanced by the red to black fruit. There's also spice, earth and some underbrush. (1234 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 7/31/2023 & rated 92 points: Pop and pour, drank about 1/3rd of the bottle over 2 hours. I love the fruit, spice and gravelly minerality. There's a touch of anise on the finish. It seems modern and not quite over the top (for Spain). (1327 views)
Tasted by jmh st louis on 6/14/2023 & rated 97 points: Power and balance, dark fruit with velvety texture. (1179 views)
Tasted by Stampeder on 4/26/2023 & rated 92 points: Powerhouse of this variety. The blend really is full and robust. (1297 views)
Tasted by RDHudak on 12/15/2022 & rated 91 points: A huge fruit bomb, as expected. Port and tobacco notes with the definition of concentrated fruit. I used to enjoy this and while it was good for its style, it's too much for me (1561 views)
Tasted by Part-timeWino on 10/28/2022 & rated 94 points: A beautiful wine! Popped & poured (and finished quickly!). I get a cool big league chew grape on the nose, with a wonderful marriage of ripe black fruit and vanilla/oak. The alcohol is balanced. Medium Acidity. Good structure. Black fruit, and leather with a long finish. Great with food or by itself. Drinking really well right now and could see it aging for at least another 5 years. (1341 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 9/22/2022 & rated 92 points: Pop and pour, drank half the bottle over 2 hours with grilled meats. This was as good or better than previous bottles. We both agreed the 16% alcohol is not detectable, as it is balanced by the red to black fruit. There's also spice, earth and some underbrush. (1504 views)
 Tasted by wino121 on 9/15/2022 & rated 92 points: A full throttled wine here…in a good spot.
Drink now thru 2025/6 (1395 views)
Tasted by jpwaxer on 8/24/2022 & rated 94 points: Spectacularly impressed with this wine (1427 views)
Tasted by Likawine on 5/3/2022 & rated 91 points: A bit to much of everything ;) (1380 views)
Tasted by SCosgrove on 4/10/2022 & rated 91 points: Excellent (1348 views)
Tasted by FlyPig on 3/17/2022 & rated 93 points: Not a lot of complexity here, but it sure is delicious. (1364 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 3/12/2022 & rated 91 points: Consistent with my note from a year ago, maybe a little better integrated. Pop and pour, served at cellar temperature and followed 2 glasses over 2 hours. This wine is big, modern, fruity and the alcohol disappears with 5 minutes of glass time. I do not think it is jammy, I think it is bold and there is some earth to balance it out. (1397 views)
Tasted by rahul_d_chatter@yahoo.com on 2/19/2022 & rated 91 points: As usual the Clio delights. Poured after two hours of decant. Notes of blackberries, plum, dark cherries, dark chocolate, and aged balsamic vinegar. Full-bodied goodness on the palate with medium acidity, generous fruit, and a long finish. Tanins are well integrated and give this wine robust support without being perceptible. The wine wears its 16% alcohol surprisingly lightly and not for one moment did I find that it ran hot. The wine is made with a blend of 30% Cab and the rest being Monastrell. It is really delicious and will be a joy to someone who is looking for wine that is full bodied but not as powerful as a Cab or a Syrah. It is an old world wine but made in a new world style. 91 pts from WS and 92 pts from WA are spot on. Highly recommended

Repeat Purchase? Sure (1258 views)
Tasted by Salute on 2/13/2022 & rated 92 points: Last bottle - still drinking extremely well. Delicious (1202 views)

(1091 views)
Tasted by CWilliam on 11/14/2021: PNP and paired with grilled brats and burgers. Black/purple color. On nose, sweet black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, fig, leather and all-spice. Palate similar. While a big wine, there is adequate acidity / tannins to keep things lively. Very long finish. Outside of my typical style of wine (big fruit), I really enjoyed this. 93+/- (1503 views)
Tasted by Elpaninaro on 9/16/2021: deep red color, black plums on the nose with fine dark gravel textures, pepper and spices, on the palate a big sweet fruit, dark berries, black cherry, as on the nose a wonderful array of assertive spices, pepper notes and with time a wild blueberry streak, good long finish with quite a bit of heat for my tastes, this is a bit big and warm for me- but I admire its numerous complexities and I have to say I was surprised to discover this wine retails for only about $50, given the current trend for bigger is better- this is quite a good QPR for fans of that style.

For me **, but objectively ***+, ready to go but time in hand and there is enough good raw material here to allow for some development with a few more years in the cellar (1861 views)
Tasted by Bill B. on 9/13/2021 & rated 92 points: A wonderful wine. Very jammy nose and taste with spices prevalent ( I tasted cinnamon ). Robust, full-bodied, and well-rounded. (1511 views)

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.

Murcia

Located in Southeastern Spain, the "lost" region of Yecla lies to the east of Jumilla and to the west of Alicante. Fortunately, this region was spared much of the wrath of the phylloxera plague, and many ungrafted and extremely old vines remain. The Yecla region’s progressive leader, Bodegas Castaño, has long been an advocate of the Monastrell varietal, also known as Mourvèdre. The varietal is best regarded for its influence on the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape where the terroir and climate is not dissimilar to that of Yecla. Both benefit from a very warm, Mediterranean climate with warm days and nights.
