Tasted by VINNICK on 3/31/2024 & rated 94 points: An excellent wine with all the detail of fine craftsmanship. Tightly wound as one would expect, but with beautiful notes of tobacco, herbs, black cherry. So elegant and balanced with a lifetime ahead. Opened, had a glass and left the rest of the bottle for the next day at cellar temp with cork in which was the right decision. Much more fruit forward and open on day two. A pleasure to enjoy but a wine to store. (393 views)
Tasted by OenoEd on 11/8/2023 & rated 96 points: Henri died in 2016, so this exuberant Celestin, likely made mostly by son Marcel, is neverthess a legacy farewell and gift to Henri’s successor, and to us. This isnt and wont be the iconic ‘89, but it should compare favorably to tbe 2000 and ‘09., both delightful contributions to the CdP diaspora. Its vibrant electric acidity and primal black fruit take on sui bois and black mineral weight over 90 minutes in the glass. There must be a bit of viognier in this blend, too, with the 90% grenache, unless the ultra ripe grenache fruit took on its own lily, violet and lilac undertones. A pleasure with wagyu tartare and quail egg, but also with a perfect ris de veau prep by Chef Cindy Wolf at Charleston in Baltimore. 20-30 years of great drinking ahead, but accessible now.  Tasted by Sean Tay on 10/17/2023 & rated 98 points: First time drinking Henri Bonneau CDP. Was surprised that it drinking so well. Pronounced nose instensity with notes of red and black fruits, spices, toast, mint, menthol. Medium+ acidity and medium+ tannin. Wine was balanced and long complexity finish. This wine have long years ahead. Tasted at Odette Four Hands with Chef Julien Royer and Chef Eric Vildgaard. (1253 views)
Tasted by LB88 on 2/10/2023 & rated 94 points: This was a huge surprised. Rich, elegant, refined tannins, so concentrated and delicious. So approchable for a young celestins (1897 views)
Tasted by KPB on 8/6/2022 & rated 95 points: Really excellent, the 2015 brings it all together and is also hitting its drinking window. A wine centered on cassis and black raspberry but with all sorts of complicating aromas: creosote, leather, garrigue, roast lamb, brioche, toffee. Very balanced and flavorful yet light on the palate. Amazingly good CDP, from the acknowledged master… but once I finish these I will never again have a Bonneau CDP, which is sad. (2560 views)
Tasted by watcheslover on 7/21/2022 & rated 96 points: The best ever made here just behind the future legendary 2016, it will be immortal, buy it when you're young and wait 30 to 50 years!!! LOL (3554 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.

"As I have written many times in the past, the sweet spot for drinking Châteauneuf du Papes is usually the first 5-6 years after the vintage. Then they seem to go through an adolescent, awkward, and sometimes dormant stage, only to re-emerge around year 10-12, where the majority of wines are often fully mature. The best of them will continue to hold on to life (but rarely improving) beyond 15-20 years. It is only the exceptional Châteauneuf du Papes that will evolve for 20-25+ years, and those are indeed a rarity. However, things may be improving dramatically in terms of the longevity of Châteauneuf du Pape, although Grenache-dominated wines, the vast majority of wines produced in the appellation, are wines that do not have the polyphenol (extract and tannin) content of top Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, or Syrah-based wines. Nevertheless, the younger generation in Châteauneuf du Pape has taken seriously the farming in the vineyards. There are more organic and biodynamically run vineyards here than in any other appellation of France. The yields, which were already low, are even lower today (20-35 hectoliters per hectare), and of course, the proliferation of top luxury and/or old-vine cuvées gives a significant boost to the number of wines that will evolve past 25 or 30 years. The advantage of these wines is their broad window of drinkability." - Robert Parker
