Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 91.4 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 32 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by hprphf on 3/17/2023 & rated 91 points: Blind. Quite obviously 2016 given the fruit quality, there is notable flaw in that the fruit is less "whole" and missing continuity. Very yoghurt-like. 91 (1346 views)
Tasted by ShadowIII on 3/14/2022 & rated 91 points: lovely wine, apples, lemon, excellent acidity, balanced, elegant, long finish (1969 views)
Tasted by cubswinws on 1/25/2022 & rated 92 points: Big and rich chardonnay with great length and really begs to go with a rich cream sauce like crawfish etouffee. (1905 views)
Tasted by tobyc on 7/28/2021 & rated 90 points: Classical Leflaive w. popcorn reduction on the nose w. citrus and green lime zest and some butter. The razor sharp acidity pierces throught the buttery yellow citrus fruits and chalky minerality. Perhaps less balanced now than two years ago.

Keep. (2521 views)
Tasted by Tonyboons33 on 6/23/2021 & rated 93 points: Drank on father's day, absolutely loved this wine! Everything you want a villages PM to be. Really enjoyed, drank with cheese, & fine salumi. (2291 views)
Tasted by THECORKDORK on 6/9/2021 & rated 92 points: Delicious B-Day wine. Young, fresh, and with a long life ahead of it. (1739 views)
Tasted by Coastalnative on 5/23/2021 & rated 93 points: Drank a little too fast to fully evaluate and make notes on but I guess that is the hallmark of a good wine. Super pale / lime green / yellow in color. Classic flinty, gun smoke Leflaive nose with ample reduction. Quince, lemon, verbena and essential oils on the nose. A touch riper than I prefer Leflaive. It was honestly just starting to open up when we were consuming our last sips. Excellent wine regardless. I would not hesitate to drink now. (1205 views)
(1585 views)
Tasted by Jmwestiv on 7/17/2020: Too young but terrific wine after a few hours open. Will wait 5 years before opening any more. (1584 views)
Tasted by PMJak11 on 5/31/2020 & rated 94 points: I love Leflaive! I’m also starting to think higher quality whites definitely need a decant, especially those with more age.

Light yellow color. Mild nose with cream and lime, after some fishy funk blew off. Absolutely massive wine!! Well balanced with butter and more lime. Medium plus finish.

I don’t think the CT valuation is right @ $150, because I paid £40+. (1450 views)
Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 2/23/2020: A very reductive nose. With air you get ripe peach, guava and mango notes. It is full and fleshy, with a sappy feel and good minerality to the finish. (1756 views)
Tasted by dnnk88 on 12/27/2019 & rated 92 points: 2nd try: Nose of lemons, peaches, white flowers. Tasted lemon, green apples and crushed stones, with a floral and mineral finish. The sweetness of white peach and chrysanthemum is prevalent, likely due to its age. Give this 3 more years at least. (1726 views)
Tasted by mikemboutiquewines on 11/30/2019 & rated 94 points: Awesome stuff! Love it! (1682 views)
 Tasted by hajoha on 10/22/2019 & rated 88 points: Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 2016.
Blir fort tropisk og ikke veldig spennende vin.
Skuffende for produsenten å være. 87-88p (1615 views)
Tasted by dnnk88 on 7/18/2019 & rated 92 points: Corney & Barrow Tasting @ Tower Club: Nose of lemons, flowers. Palate of lemon and crushed stones, with a finish of minerality. This is linear, structured and balanced - the precision made it the white wine of the night for me (whites tasted tonight include the Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 2015 and the Leflaive Meursault Sous le Dos d’Ane 2016). My kind of white. Open now (1488 views)
Tasted by jrh82 on 4/7/2019 & rated 90 points: Very good village, as expected. Rather mute straight out of the bottle. Very generic Puligny, but with 30-45 mins of air the complexities and nuances came out. The change was rather dramatic in fact.

On the nose lime, peach, mineral stone, burnt matchstick. On the taste rather high acidity. More lemon than lime, not super intense like ‘14 but a lot there.

Seemed to fade a bit after 6-7 hours of air in the bottle. Like some of the intensity went away. Still, sheer class and elegance. (1607 views)
Tasted by vinkeger on 3/23/2019 & rated 90 points: Åpen etter kort tid på karaffel. (1576 views)
Tasted by the godfather on 3/9/2019: solid albeit probably not worth the tariff (1094 views)
Tasted by JOsgood on 3/9/2019: La Paulée 2019 Grand Tasting of 2016 Burgundy (Pier Sixty, New York): Just ok, lacking the verve and cut I want in a white Burgundy. (1757 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 3/9/2019 & rated 89 points: La Paulée de New York Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty - New York NY): Tasting, brief note. Rich stone fruit with good depth for its level. Slightly sweet, spice-driven finish. Good+ Villages, but probably not a bargain. (2258 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 3/9/2019: La Paulée de NY Grand Tasting (Pier 60 - NYC): Bright fruit with good energy throughout. Fun now, if on the simple side. 87-88 (1237 views)
Tasted by Shiaxonna on 2/11/2019 & rated 91 points: Lovely young Leflaive. Nose has subtle combination of fresh orange juice, pineapple, apricots and green apples. The palate is balanced, elegant and full of fresh chardonnay fruit. Powerful and long lasting. A little bit young yet. Needs some air to open up.

50+5+13+15+8 (91p) (1147 views)
Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 1/26/2019: The nose is quite spicy and fruits of the citrus persuasion. There is white peach at its heart and saline minerality ton the finish. (1251 views)
Tasted by tobyc on 11/17/2018 & rated 91 points: Colour: Clear, med intense yellow w. golden hue.
Bouquet: Med+ intense, pure w. scent of lemon, camomile, grapefruits, green apples, banana and pineapples.
Palate: Dry and youthful, med+ acid, balanced alcohol, med body. Herbal feeling, lime, exotic fruits, honeydew, asparagues, leaves and a lightly butter and brioche tone w. earth, petroleum and minerality.

Overall: Long finish. To drink or keep. (671 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 9/14/2018: Light yellow. Green apple. Gentle wood, pear fruit, average acidity. A breath of fresh air after the Bruno Colin wines, being much more air filled, subtle, and discrete. That said, in the end, while an excellent village wine, who is going to pay $165 for this?? Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
