Tasted by Heynetty on 11/4/2021: A Pale lemon
N: Pronounced nose of vanilla, smoke, butter, struck match, peach puree, apple, tangerine, overripe starfruit, physalis (golden berries)
P: Dry, medium (+) acidity, medium alcohol, medium body, pronounced intensity and long finish
Its an outstanding quality wine. Balance of acidity against ripe fruit, great length and intensity. The vanilla and baking spice is really apparent here, Clearly there is some portion of new toasted oak used in barrel ageing.

Im noticing a lot of smoke in NZ Chardonnays to add to the ripe fruit. Might are good tell in an exam.

This has a lot going on and though drinking well now, I think this will age nicely in the next 5 years. (545 views)
Tasted by belfast taxman on 7/17/2021 & rated 90 points: Again very good. Light enough to match well with prawn and scallop risotto. (609 views)
Tasted by geoffreychambertin on 2/17/2021 & rated 90 points: Reductive smoky nose gives way to lemon, melon, and vanilla. A bit more oak than I was expecting, but all in all a pretty well made wine. (1014 views)
Tasted by belfast taxman on 12/6/2020 & rated 90 points: Top notch, possibly worth a smidge more than 90. Lovely balance, elegant, slightly racy edge to it with melon and citrus hints. (958 views)
Tasted by tmagsmaken on 5/25/2020 & rated 90 points: Fresh chardonnay style on the nose: not fatty with butter but elegant with some vanilla but also a delicate saline touch.
On the palate, medium-bodied, again more elegant than fatty. Some green apple notes due to the refreshing acidity. Decent finish. Overall, enjoyable well made NZ chardonnay. Ready to drink. Fairly priced. (1156 views)
Tasted by cono_sur on 10/18/2019 & rated 92 points: Fairly intense nose delivers a smoky and reductive entry, followed by apple, pear, and vanilla aromas. It is medium+ bodied on the palate with vibrant acids, clean fruit and mouthfeel, and very nice aroma replays. Toasty and spicy notes linger on the long finish. Enjoy over the next 5-7 years.  Tasted by MichaelSy on 12/29/2018 & rated 90 points: Delicious second time around too! (1258 views)
Tasted by MichaelSy on 12/17/2018 & rated 95 points: Quite a bit of flint and oak. Delicious with chicken and swiss brown pot pies.
Lobely weight and texture with a decent backbone of acid. (1017 views)

2016 Cloudy Bay Chardonnay

Cloudy Bay Chardonnay 2016

100% Chardonnay from vineyard blocks located in sub-regions of Marlborough: Brancott, Fairhall, Ben Morven and Central Wairau Valley.

After gentle pressing, the juice was barrel fermented in French oak. Remained in barrel for one year of maturation, approx. 18% new oak. Regular lees stirring was used in order to build aromatic complexity. The wine naturally went through 70% malolactic conversion.

Winemaker's Comments

Complex aromas of cashew nut, preserved lemon and nectarine. The palate is layered with a bold complexity of ripe fruit flavour and spicy, smoky oak characters. The combined texture of fruit density and lees work provides a focal point that is balanced by fresh and firm acidity.
