Tasted by Wheelock on 3/9/2024: Smooth, not heavy. Needs to breathe. Not fruity (131 views)
Tasted by Olejasz on 11/16/2023: Still drinkable 2023 (264 views)
Tasted by mike410 on 7/30/2023 & rated 88 points: Easy drinking Bordeaux. (385 views)
Tasted by Jeff Gray on 4/20/2023: black tea, sl acid, dark berry, blackberry, sl tannins at end (477 views)
Tasted by Buff Tannen, USXFel Presidente on 7/30/2021 & rated 88 points: Very juicy and floral, seemingly destemmed, feminine, open upon opening, quite enjoyable if you're not a luddite cur, temptation to overrate to balance silly CT score was resisted (1269 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 2/24/2021: Little tight on the nose right now. Just opened and a little tight right. (1365 views)
Tasted by chatters on 8/24/2020: Cheaparse Bordeaux part one (My place, Kent Street): Dense and brooding dark fruits, a little cedar, savoury spice. Juicy, savoury, dark fruits on the palate as well but also some aniseed notes, chalky tannins, persistent as well. Crikey. Yum. (1560 views)
Tasted by springdrive on 8/27/2019 & rated 82 points: Not much on the nose or palate, a little blackberry and vegetal notes. Very watery, with medium acidity and tannin. Day 2, slightly more velvety fruit. A solid, well-made wine, but not much more. (1498 views)
Tasted by red freddy on 6/30/2019 & rated 84 points: Served at room temp with Filet Mignon. Lovely deep ruby red color pouring from the bottle. Seemed thin bodied (13.0% abv), slightly acidic taste not particularly pleasant. Subdued tannins but left a 'woody' taste. Tried again a couple of days later and the Wine seemed to have 'opened-up.' Smoother, still somewhat tannic but not as harsh. (1144 views)
Tasted by Fred_Bo on 4/14/2019 & rated 83 points: This needs at least 5 years.. not much to pull from this rn! (1116 views)
Tasted by Tao on 7/15/2018 & rated 90 points: Want to have a rough idea what the vintage 2016 Bordeaux is all about and I tried the vintage 2015 last year, and I see one on the shelf, so why not give the vintage 2016 a go, once you pulled the cork and put some liquid into the glass, the immediate thing you see is the lovely cherry purple colour, fresh and bright! The nose is full of dark currant fruits plus some lavender and a hint of graphite, charming! Not very tannic on the palate, the dark fruits senses your palate from start to finish, simple and rich, I think the depth and the intensity of the fruits are both the hallmark of the vintage, have to taste more in the coming future. Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

History of Bordeaux

History of 1855 Bordeaux Classification

"2009 is all about ripeness, with wines impressively packed with ripe fruit and high alcohol levels. They are showy, in-your-face, and full of pleasure. The 2010s have the fruit and alcohol levels of the 2009s, but with a compelling freshness on the finish that balances the fruit and provides a perfect sense of structure." - Ben Nelson

"2016 is a landmark vintage in certain spots of Bordeaux and it should be remembered as one of the most inspired campaigns of the last 40-50+ years." -Jon Rimmerman
"The quality of red Bordeaux in 2016 was universally lauded – although the response to the en primeur campaign was muted. Quantity was high too, with the equivalent of 770 million bottles of wine produced. An exceptionally dry summer with cool nights eventually, thanks to mid September rain, resulted in small, thick-skinned, ripe grapes, and the wines are marked by high tannin and acidity, with superb aromatic fragrance." - Jancis Robinson

"2017 was complicated, but there are some excellent wines. Expect plenty of freshness and drinkability from wines that will offer excellent value, and others that will rival 2016 in terms of ripeness and ageability. But they are likely to be the exception not the rule, making careful selection key." - Jane Anson

"In the past, a vintage such as 2022 may have been overripe, raisined and low in acidity but 2022 had a sneaky little reservoir in its back pocket - a near perfect marriage of cool/cold/rain the previous winter and the previous vintage that literally soaked the soils (a key to why 2022 is not 2003...or 1893)." - Jon Rimmerman
