Tasted by wtianseter on 6/27/2023: Another good wine but showing its time in bottle. Drink these up soon (324 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 2/18/2023: This bottle has not fared as well as the last. Prune flavors were beginning to predominate, Still a good wine This bottle indicates to drink up very soon (417 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 11/17/2022 & rated 90 points: The wine is aging nicely but don't save it too long. Fruit is fresh and bright and the wine goes down easy. (528 views)
Tasted by LetItRide on 9/4/2022 & rated 91 points: My 12th last & best bottle enjoyed at my friend Kevin’s inaugural guitar gig in the hills of Lake Tapps.
Zin berry spice and a happy successor to the surprisingly tasty hearty burgundy Jug wines of the 1970’s. (708 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 7/29/2022 & rated 90 points: Fruit has developed nicely and shows a warm maturity and smoothness (659 views)
Tasted by LightDancer on 1/9/2022: Solid, nicely blended. Great bottle with excellent QPR (679 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 10/22/2021 & rated 90 points: Drinking very nicely now. Flavors are mature and complex but well integrated. Freshness of flavor is still there but the complexity stars here. Smooth and supple flavors yet distinctly Zin flavors. A great case for putting some bottle age on well made wines. Tasted with the 2017 which definitely looks like it will do the same thing in a few more years. (660 views)
Tasted by whudock on 5/29/2021 & rated 90 points: still drinking well. consistent with previous notes (688 views)
Tasted by LightDancer on 4/15/2021 & rated 90 points: Still muted when opened. Gassed and set aside. On Day 3, re-opened and it had blossomed. Great field blend -- full, lots of fruit tones, appropriate tannin to balance. Complemented the burgers with cheese and green chile. (626 views)
Tasted by whudock on 1/28/2021 & rated 91 points: consistent with previous notes. Drinking very well with another two-three years of good drinking ahead. (624 views)
Tasted by whudock on 9/19/2020 & rated 91 points: consistent with previous vintages this is an excellent wine and an excellent QPR. (549 views)
Tasted by whudock on 7/26/2020 & rated 90 points: consistent with previous vintages. Bottle aging for a couple of years has paid good dividends. Drinking very well. (527 views)
Tasted by LightDancer on 5/10/2020 & rated 88 points: Good bottle, surprisingly ready to drink, but will hold for a while. Zin most pronounced, but the other grapes in the blend make for a generic, pleasant wine. This is a more critical review than my last one. (561 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 10/15/2019: Easy drinking . Tasty and nice finish. Briary middle (803 views)
Tasted by LightDancer on 10/1/2019 & rated 89 points: Tried it on Day 2. <smile> Opened it on the first day, but it was just too harsh and not together. Gassed and set aside. Day 2 it was very good -- nice blend of dark fruits, tannins in balance. I think waiting a year or two will help immensely. (748 views)
Tasted by LightDancer on 5/19/2019 & rated 88 points: Excellent QPR. There are a lot of flavors and fruit hidden at the moment. Perhaps reflecting Wine Access's assessment of "try it on day two". We will and let you know how it came out. On the first night, it's a god wine, especially for the price, but the flavors are muted. In general, I prefer wines with a little more age, but decided to pop one open on arrival. Glad I did. There seems to be a lot of complexity riding beneath the current surface. Stay tuned.  Tasted by Redfish on 10/22/2018 & rated 91 points: First shot at the 2015 and this might be the best OVFB yet. Just tremendous depth, concentration, and balance. Full bodied dark fruits, maybe a little sweetness. Also great earthy bramble side. This is a Wine Access gem I just keep going back to. Amazing QPR. Consciously making room in the cellar to put a few of these away. Just had my last 2012 and it was continuing to improve so I imagine the same will hold for the 15. May need to add storage space just to accommodate this and future OVFBs. (1378 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
