| Marramiero Producer websiteTrebbiano d'AbruzzoTrebbiano d'Abruzzo is the Abruzzo region of Central Italy's dry white wine appellation partner to its iconic red, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. It is the only DOC in Abruzzo specializing exclusively in white wine.
According to the official DOC laws, a Trebbiano d'Abruzzo wine must be made from at least 85 to 100 percent of Trebbiano Toscano or Trebbiano Abruzzese or a combination of the two grapes. The latter is a distinct variety from the former and as its name suggests the more traditional local option. It is often called by the name of the appellation. Alternately up to 85 percent of Bombino Bianco can be used; this and the Trebbiano Abruzzese grape variety are thought by some to be identical, but DNA profiling has as yet failed to confirm this. The degree to which wineries across the Abruzzo region have correctly identified their vines is unsurprisingly open to question.Italy Italian Wines (ItalianMade.com, The Italian Trade Commission) | Italian Wine Guide on the WineDoctorAbruzzi Abruzzi (Italianmade.com) |
