Tasted by Lydiksen74 on 8/13/2023 & rated 92 points: Drinking a Barbera d´Asti that works good with a full blown Tomahawk is pretty something. We enjoyed it big time - gave it 1 hour decant. (590 views)
Tasted by honest bob on 7/2/2023 & rated 91 points: From 75cl, good cork, double decanted 90 minutes. Big-bodied, texturally multi-layered Barbera with considerable aromatic complexity balancing the considerable sweetness; fine grippy tannins. A fantastic pairing with szechuan beef, but of course the sharp spices affected my perception of the wine. So no surprise that I remember heady eucalyptus, pine resin and brightly acidic red fruit, but the other TNs here tell a different story. But no doubt, this is terrific wine. 91-92P (808 views)
Tasted by Emil Oliver on 1/17/2023 & rated 92 points: This is just something completely different from the light and easy to like barberas I’ve had before.

The perfumed nose is just majestic with notes of dark cherries, tobacco, some anise. Still bright acidity 11 years in, though well balanced. Med+ body of ripe fruit, towards dark fruit and prunes.
Mature fine tannins.

Should have had this with duck, just gorgeous. (1101 views)
Tasted by lukeintowine on 7/8/2022 & rated 94 points: Excellent again. Very ripe, but the acidity gives the wine a wonderful balance. Lots of depth. (1104 views)

Tasted by TomEndresplass on 4/16/2021 & rated 92 points: What a great wine. Consentrated fruit both on the nose and taste. Great acid balancing the big big fruit. Complex but smoot with integrated tannins. Day 2 it moves towards port wine with rasins and prunes. Very very much enjoyable. Will probably hold for many years, and even improve further. (1425 views)
Tasted by jorgen.jordet on 4/5/2021 & rated 93 points: dark red on colour. Leather, forest fruit, plum, cherry, some oak. Smooth tannin, high acidity, long. Beautiful barbera, complex and very smooth (984 views)
Tasted by lukeintowine on 2/24/2021 & rated 94 points: Yeah! Ripe dark fruit, plum, a lot of earthy notes, coffee, leather. In a good state right now, but still going strong and good for another 5-10 years. Tannins and acidity are nice but still present. Really excellent!

Yeah! Reife dunkle Frucht, Pflaume, dazu erdige Töne, Kaffee, Leder. Gutes Stadium kann aber locker noch 5-10 Jahre. Tannine und Säure sind noch präsent. Wirklich exzellent! (761 views)
Tasted by acsf on 2/19/2021 & rated 95 points: Delicious, mature and ready to drink. (727 views)
Tasted by FjordogFjell on 2/12/2021 & rated 92 points: Spent på denne etter 93 p fra DN. PnP i Zalto Bx. Mørk parfymert lukt med blod grønne urter. Litt overraskende tett frukt konsentrert frukt uten det mørke. Mod fin vanilje kirsebær og timotei. 1 dag i flaske: Fantastisk konsentrasjon. 2 dager: konsentrasjon som overgår de fleste dessert-viner, intens frisk avsluttning som sitter lenge. Perfekt moden nå. (649 views)
Tasted by KarlO_CC on 12/24/2020 & rated 91 points: Superdark. Tar and pencil on the nose. Start smooth on the palate- then intense spice/ pepper in the middle. Ends long - fresh. A wonderful barbera. (671 views)

Barbera

Varietal character (Appellation America)

Varietal character (Wikipedia English)
Barbera is a red wine variety, originally from Italy, which is best known as the second-most important Piedmontese variety after Nebbiolo. The wines made of this grape are mainly the everyday drinking wines of the region. The main appellations producing Barbera are Asti and Alba.

Barbera - The most widely grown red wine grape of Piedmont and Southern Lombardy, most famously around the towns of Asti and Alba, and Pavia. The wines of Barbera were once simply "what you drank while waiting for the Barolo to be ready." With a new generation of wine makers, this is no longer the case. The wines are now meticulously vinified, aged Barbera gets the name "Barbera Superiore" (Superior Barbera), sometimes aged in French barrique becoming "Barbera Barricato", and intended for the international market. The wine has bright cherry fruit, a very dark color, and a food-friendly acidity.
