Floral aromas. Great finish. Great with a Brie (176 views) | | Tasted by wine247365 on 7/13/2023: UnP (unscrew and pour). Initially I smelled pear, green apple, minerals and within 15 seconds the aromas pivoted to sulfur. Then, more sulfur and even more sulfur. Even some sitting in the glass for 20 minutes couldn’t shake the sulfur. There is some nice acid cutting through on the palate that reminds me of a Sauv Blanc with green apple hints. After a few minutes, I could even taste the sulfur. Interestingly, my wife sensed no sulfur. I think she may have some bias though given that she’s an Ozzie in a foreign land. Big disappointment. Won’t rate it as other TNs don’t call out the sulfur so maybe I got a bad bottle or need the winemaker added too much. I let her have the rest of the bottle. SULFUR! (309 views) | | Tasted by ProfAvi on 8/20/2020 & rated 90 points: I bought a case of this wine as it got a great write up in Decanter. Lovely pale lemony-straw color, melon, white peach, pear on the nose; rich smooth creamy toasty mouthfeel. A zip of green apple acidity keeping it in check. Paired surprisingly well with a courgette, mozzarella and sausage pasta.
It was a surprise that after dinner the wine improved - the finish goes on and on. More balance now after a couple of hours almost Burgundian. According to Decanter, outstanding and just at the beginning of its drinking window.
If drinking now it will benefit from a decant.
It's not outstanding at the moment but very nice, with a great PQR.
In Burgundy this would be double the price.
90 now but I expect that it can only get better. (1345 views) | | Tasted by Craigvb on 7/25/2020 & rated 89 points: nose is more like a sauvignon blanc than a chardonnay. Not much in the mouth either. $19 from Last Bottle, but more like a $10-$12 bottle. I'll be serving this to my "drop ins" who won't care... Update 8/10/20. Tried a second bottle and this time it was a very nice chardonnay. Not sure what was up with the first one, but i'm going from 85 to 89. (1165 views) | | Tasted by Tony Poli on 11/23/2019 & rated 92 points: Light on its feet, enough acid to stand up to food, wonderful mouthfeel, good fruit on the palate. Pears and some melon. Long finish. At dinner (in Pittsburgh) with a friend from Perth. This was representative of the better Margaret River Chardonnays that we have tasted. (1565 views) | | Tasted by grapenomad on 7/29/2019 & rated 84 points: This one was aged on the wild yeast, but still doesn't preform any better than the Little Yering Chardonnay. Good acid, but nothing else. Lacks depth and finish. (1865 views) |
