Tasted by wino biker on 12/11/2023 & rated 85 points: dark fruits on the nose, some leather on the palate.
Would buy again. (116 views)
Tasted by grapenomad on 12/21/2022 & rated 90 points: Deep ruby in the glass. I drank this straight from the bottle, no decanting needed - aromas of plum, blackcurrant, blackberry (all on the riper side). I was expecting this to be broad on the palate, something similar to a Napa Cab by the smell of it, but it has some really nice finesse and acidity to it. Yes, it's rich, but doesn't taste anything like a warm climate Bordeaux blend. Some of the oak spices come out on the finish, which is quite pleasant, contributing to the complexity of this wine. Good stuff, something to impress at a dining table or a blind tasting. (578 views)
Tasted by kgrieve on 7/28/2022 & rated 94 points: Drinking beautifully! A great interpretation of Bordeaux blending in NOTL... drank from magnum and was pretty much perfect. If you've got 750mL formats, would recommend drinking over the next 1-3 years. (480 views)
Tasted by MS86 on 8/21/2020 & rated 93 points: From the spectacular 2015 vintage this Merlot / Cab Sauv dominated Meritage is bold, powerful and drinking beautifully.

Medium+ intensity nose of worn shoe leather, herbs de provence, violet, tobacco, creme de cassis and crushed blueberry and blackberry.

Refined but grippy tannins, and hearty acidity suggest this wine can be cellared for several years.

Flavours of sweet black plum, blueberry, dark chocolate and black liquorice.

Finish lingers long with liquorice and a hint of spice. (1090 views)

Tasted by Brent25 on 12/5/2019 & rated 89 points: Clear medium ruby; clean medium nose of ripe black cherry, black berry, cassis, toast, cloves; dry; medium plus acidity; medium tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; medium flavour intensity; pfn with addition of cocoa; medium plus finish; very good quality; fabulous offering from Stratus - wish it was a little more intense; excellent match for charcuterie or meatballs - not strong enough to stand up to steak (1246 views)
Tasted by Brent25 on 7/24/2019 & rated 88 points: Clear deep ruby; clean medium nose of cassis, red cherries, strawberries, toast, graphite, fennel and cedar; dry; medium plus acidity; medium tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; medium plus flavour intensity; pfn with addition of cocoa and some sour cherries; medium plus finish; very good quality; wished it was more complex and that the finish was even stronger (1136 views)
Tasted by CamWheeler on 1/5/2019 & rated 90 points: 3 days in Niagara; 1/4/2019-1/6/2019: 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc, 11% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec. Leafy, pepper and raspberry notes on the nose. Medium bodie on the palate, mixes the spice, herb and fruit notes well. Very well made wine. (1612 views)
Tasted by cono_sur on 11/24/2018 & rated 92 points: This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec has a rich, medium-high intensity nose of crushed blackberry, raspberry, and currant, with hints of floral and leather and well-integrated oak spice notes. It's medium-full bodied and nicely textured on the palate with structured and refined tannins that have some grip. Lovely aroma replays are well-balanced. Very good acidity. Some savoury nuances on the long finish. Approachable now, better in 1-2 years and drink to 2026. (833 views)
Tasted by Double-A on 10/30/2018 & rated 90 points: Rich dark currant, earth, mineral and toast nose. Savoury and glycerined with good grip and a marked freshness. Smoky, toasted bread finish.

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.
