Tasted by RayT on 8/18/2020 & rated 82 points: This is not something I would typically buy or drink. I belong to the wine club at my neighborhood wine bar. The owner tries to find $25 reds drinking above their price point. This was one of the club wines. This was ruby in color with a moderate nose of blackberries and vanilla. Similar on the palate adding plum and espresso. While tasting this it seemed fine but then it had an incredibly clipped finish. I am talking fall off a cliff, nothing but air finish. With time it developed a little bit but never gained a finish. Not something I would revisit. (1257 views)
Tasted by beatles on 5/12/2020 & rated 91 points: Powerful, spicy with sweet notes - I could have guessed South Africa, if tasted blind. This really holds it's own ... in all sorts of weather.

Tasted by tedcholl on 2/8/2020 & rated 89 points: Enjoyable and smooth, not as big and bold as Australian Shiraz. black fruit, cedar, licorice predominate on the palate. (921 views)
Tasted by André71 on 2/8/2020 & rated 95 points: Så bra detta är.
Mjukt och runt.
För 140kr kan man nog inte få mycket bättre.
Kommer definitivt bli mitt husvin. (1021 views)
Tasted by Gemofwine on 2/2/2020 & rated 92 points: Bold, very fruits forward. Brilliant nose of fresh flowers, cherries, herbs, enveloped in a nice oaky fragrance . Still young , but drinking well. Highly dry palate, and seem like high extraction method used. Well Balanced. (634 views)
Tasted by André71 on 1/25/2020 & rated 94 points: Ett helt underbart vin i mitt tycke.
(527 views)
Tasted by PaddyL on 7/13/2019 & rated 84 points: Nice wine, but a bit on the sweet side (489 views)
Tasted by DrZett on 3/17/2019 & rated 84 points: Way too sweet for my palate, not very balanced. (585 views)
Tasted by srh on 3/16/2019: Taste 90 & Higher Rated Wines (San Diego Wine Co.): Syrah "planted in limestone soils over 16 yrs ago in the foothills of the Moncayo (600-700 m above sea level). The maceration is between 4-5 days & the total fermentation takes 15-20 days in s/s tanks at a controlled temp of 22-26° C. At that time is aged in new AM oak barrels for 12 mos, & other in s/s tanks." Supposedly "15% ABV, 2.2 g/L R.S., 5.5 g/L T.A., & 3.5 pH" [per Bottle Barn].

P: LM, poss Med, body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by astringent pucker which fairly seamlessly evolves into a LONG finish with a tangy/swtness to the dusty tannins. Approachable now IF one is OK with the mid-P structure. Otherwise, DESERVES 12-18 mos, then drinking for 4 yrs more? 15% ABV; My EXC-/EXC. 93 pts Guía de Vino, 92 ea Guía Peñín & Vinous, 91 WA, 90 Suckling, & Silver + "Best Syrah from Spain" thedrinksbusiness.com (10/18). Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.

Campo de Borja

DO Campo de Borja
