Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes

Tasted by vespasian on 10/5/2018: Quite a dark, brooding nose. A touch of farmyard; more open fruited on the palate. Violet tinged dark berried fruits. Good weight. Nice spread of black currant in the finish. Tannins not too abrasive, you could enjoy this now and in the medium term. (907 views)

Château de Pibarnon

Producer website
From Michael Skurnik: Chateau de Pibarnon is arguably the finest Bandol produced, a Mourvèdre that ages effortlessly, steadily gaining nobility and stature, for 10-15+ years. This now famous Bandol property was purchased by Henri de St. Victor and his family in 1975. Planted on steep terraced slopes on the northern edge of the appellation, the estate is known for its wines that have both concentration and elegance. Both Henri de Saint Victor and his son are passionate wine makers. Pibarnon frequently comes out on top in comparative tastings of Bandol. The buildings, which now boast a special function room for tastings and dinners, overlook an amphitheatre of vines and has a spectacular panorama of the sea.
