Flinty, peach, apple, fuzzy fruit. Medium bodied with well balanced acidity (330 views) | | Tasted by BoxerBee on 5/1/2023 & rated 91 points: Fresh herbs and citrus fruits. Waxy texture, with a fresh and moreish finish that cuts through your meal. Ready to drink, but will keep for 10+ years. (457 views) | | Tasted by oxidatif on 10/16/2022 flawed bottle: MuscaDay tasting. Corked (325 views) | | Tasted by oakville72 on 2/24/2022 & rated 90 points: A sophisticated Muscadet that is still going strong at 4 years of age. Quite golden with a creamy "sur lie" character. (779 views) | | Tasted by kstoddard on 1/25/2022 flawed bottle: Corked (537 views) | | Tasted by DK Amateur on 1/21/2022 flawed bottle: This was oxydised, or prem'oxed. I've had two excellent bottles, and had no idea that a Muscadet could oxydise like this. It has been stored for a few years in my wine fridge, or whatever it is called. Quite surprising. (629 views) | | Tasted by cubswinws on 6/27/2021 & rated 90 points: Crisp and bright with touch of lime and melon on the finish. (903 views) | | Tasted by millej on 4/12/2020: Certainly not shy in the acid department, leaning towards lime in the citrus. Maybe I needed a better food match or it's already shut down but this one wasn't really doing it for me. Good, but not up there with other vintages. Still, I wouldn't count it out for the long term as traditionally the L d'Or ages really well. (1351 views) | | Tasted by xwine on 3/8/2020: No note, really. Just should mention is was not as crisp as I would like, a bit more fruit forward. (367 views) | | Tasted by DK Amateur on 12/7/2019: Drunk over two days. Aromatics varies with time and temperature, going from seabreeze and oysters via the smoky peatinessof Islay malt whisky to fruits like apricot and butter. Beautiful clean texture. Faint bitterness rather than acidity. Lovely. (1287 views) | | Tasted by casoe on 9/26/2019 & rated 90 points: Expectations were a little higher this time, and this is still a nice mineral, fresh and well-balanced wine for the price. But quite simple. (1171 views) | | Tasted by DK Amateur on 9/7/2019: This has a nose with many components like sea breeze, peaches, minerals, dark notes like of spontaneous fermentation. The taste is best when the wine is quite warm, otherwise its soft texture does not really show. Seems quite acidic to me. Very good, went very well with vegetable dishes. Sounds like a good idea to drink it with sole, as suggested in an other note. (1242 views) | | Tasted by casoe on 7/4/2019 & rated 91 points: Very nice surprise. High acidity and minerality but also nicely balanced with lime and pear - and simply just very nice to drink with or without food. (1102 views) | | Tasted by vindictive on 2/13/2019: well I suppose this is still young and more will come, but this is a regal bottle - excellent minerality with pear, lemon, melon - it gains weight and complexity with air and warming. Incredible value for a wine of this stature ( true of Muscadet in general). As was stated in another note, it is more of a sole muscadet than an oyster muscadet although it would be wonderful with anything from the sea (848 views) |
| Melon de BourgogneMelon de Bourgogne or Melon is a variety of white grape grown primarily in the Loire Valley region of France. It is also grown in North America. It is best known through its use in the white wine Muscadet.
In the U.S., Federal law prevents "Muscadet" from being used for American-produced wine; only the full name of the grape, or the shortened "Melon" can be used.

Vineyards on weinagen-infoMuscadet de Sèvre-et-MaineMuscadet (mus-ka-DAY) is a region in the western part of the Loire valley, near the city of Nantes. White wines from Muscadet are made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape. They tend to be light in color and body, and are intensely mineral driven. They are thought to be a perfect complement to raw oysters from the nearby coast. Muscadets are gleefully paired, though, with any fresh shellfish or other seafood.
There are a couple of appellations in Muscadet, the best of which is considered to be Muscadet de Sevre et Maine. And the best bottles from that appellation are aged sur-lie, or on the lees, the musty mix of yeasts and other post-fermentation solids. This aging provides flavor complexity that can be missing in other bottles. |
