Tasted by jasonh on 4/23/2015: A very good bottle. Drinking well right now. (2218 views)
Tasted by Colima74 on 10/20/2013 & rated 91 points: Bright red fruit, baking spices, and depth of flavors. A lot going on. Still good acidity. I wish I had more, as this wine seemed way younger than it's calendar age. (3083 views)
Tasted by Colima74 on 8/27/2013 & rated 91 points: Open a couple of days and no discernible decline. Bright red fruit with a wide swath of citrusy acidity. Color just hinting at bricking. This seems on the verge of its decline, so I'm doing to drink my last bottle sooner rather than later. Enjoyable. (3472 views)
Tasted by glaze3 on 8/19/2012: Great example of a well aged Swan Zin. Energetic red fruits, nice Mancini spice and some secondary flavors of damp earth all melding together in a medium weight package. Hasn't really moved much from the bottle consumed in 2009 which bodes well for the future. If you have more than one of these now is the time to open, if not I could see this going several more years easy. Plenty of acidity and enough bright fruit to hit the 20yr mark. (4424 views)
Tasted by Zonk on 5/2/2012 & rated 91 points: drinking really welll. on the light side for a zin. smooth texture. cherry and some licorice. (4193 views)
Tasted by leighhunt on 3/1/2012 & rated 91 points: Great fruit, and nicely offset by spice notes. Multi-dimensional. A lot going on here. Great wine! (3417 views)
Tasted by z_willus_d on 11/28/2011 & rated 92 points: Fine fine wine. Here is a a bottle, Zinfandel none the less (or more), that my spouse and I couldn't help but manage to finish in a single night, and that does not often occur betwixt us two in our home. The mineral-juiced tail-end of this wine is screaming, and as it opens and evolves with air this smooths out, looses a slight raisin flaw that was apparent in the first glass, and transforms into something hardly anyway appreciably similar to Zinfandel from CA. This was light bodied, ultra balanced, acidic, sour and sweet red-fruity, floral; a cut from a different cloth to say the least. I'm extremely impressed and would love to encounter a vertical flight of this to see how the different vintage conditions affected their outcomes. I expect the terroir to hold fast, as it's certainly shining through blindingly bright in this example. (3704 views)
Tasted by gutt22 on 11/14/2011: 14.5% alcohol. This wine hasn't moved too much in the past couple years, but it has added some complex notes. Still the beautiful, dusty cherry and spice nose that is so singular in this vineyard. This is a vibrant, lively wine that is high in acidity and doesn't fall victim to the heavy, plodding, port-like structure of some Zins. Lively, with more earth and secondary characteristics starting to emerge. Retains that bright, wonderful acidity and juicy finish. A- (2528 views)
Tasted by christyler on 8/19/2011 & rated 91 points: This was pushing up against the acceptable limits of how fruity I like my wine to be, but the age and bits of earth made it much more complex and interesting than it might have been at a younger age. A great experience and a strong argument for mixing it up from time to time. (2245 views)
Tasted by MCUBEB on 7/13/2011 & rated 91 points: Powerful nose of red and black fruits. This has raspberries, cherries, blackberries, cranberries and some earth and pepper with hints of licorice. It has a silky texture and a medium finish. Will easily survive few more years since there is nice acidic backbone to this wine. (2412 views)
Tasted by psrv on 6/27/2011 & rated 84 points: PnP. Aromas and flavors of tart cherries and red berries, with an overly acidic backbone and a short finish. (2647 views)
Tasted by z_willus_d on 5/31/2011: There is something special about this zin from this producer. This is one of the few wines of its varietal that "speaks to me" in a language other than the purely sybaritic. On first sample of this some months back, I was surprised by it's light fruity Pinot characteristics, but having had so much Beaujolais of late, particularly from the ripe '09 vintage, I would have to now match this for slim differentiation to a wine of that ilk, and that is a wonderful ilk in which to rise for comparison. No dip on the 2nd day this time, having suctioned the air and kept my half-filled bottle cold stored. This one makes a supremely compelling case for Zinfandel grown in a slightly cooler climate than the normal CA vineyard or like derivative. (2813 views)
Tasted by Rollerball on 5/13/2011 & rated 90 points: Just outstanding. Explosive essence of dark juicy berries and sour cherries on a high-end rusted iron frame. (2573 views)
Tasted by CO CHRIS on 4/18/2011 & rated 90 points: 14.5% alc...popped and poured...nose - spicy, dried red fruit, brambly, dusty, sweet...palate - medium bodied, medium dusty structure, spicy, black pepper, very nice fruit, juicy with just a hint of dried fruit, long and juicy finish, gorgeous acidity...this might be one of the first aged offerings that I've thoroughly enjoyed. I would buy again. (2713 views)
Tasted by stufis on 4/10/2011 & rated 88 points: Pretty acid base keeps this true to form for The Mancini Vyd. Fruit still forward, spices a bit muted. Aging nicely. (2646 views)
Tasted by xtrmjoe on 3/3/2011 & rated 93 points: My system (nose mouth finish) +++, Yum, still has at least 5-7 more years in it. (2630 views)
Tasted by fcarrano on 1/28/2011: Dog broke the bottle. Bummed. (2897 views)
Tasted by signotim on 1/23/2011 & rated 87 points: medium red color. rasberry, marzipan, and raisin on the nose. firm, tart cherry on the palate and a little raisin. i like this - a more structured zinfandel. not gobs of overripe fruit. good balance. (2824 views)
Tasted by desolow on 12/22/2010 & rated 89 points: Very good aged Zin, smooth for the most part with a bit of spice, went well with take-out Indian food. (2904 views)
Tasted by z_willus_d on 11/15/2010 & rated 90 points: Tasted directly out of bottle (~65F). Reflects a darker magenta color than other aged Swan zins I've viewed, lots of particulates. Perfumed, floral and pleasantly fruity (red), this displays a delicate nose more akin to north-coast Pinot than 99% of CA Zinfandel. There's just enough wild and sap and briar to make this compelling. Refined in its eighth year, satin smooth, and with invasive acidity that paces ahead of the resinous cherry, raspberry, and strawberry fruits that all ring quite true to their real namesakes -- sweet upfront then with a tinge of sourness in the finish. The flavor here caries the body to a level greater than the mouthfeel alone would suggest, seeming creamy without the typical sensations of cream by oak. Tannins are gone short of some drying effects. Acid is just right. Flavor is great. Heat is only just perceptible in a flash of spicy liquor that's gone before you notice it. Finish is just short of long and managed to include crushed rocks (a huge plus) on the 2nd and 3rd glass pours. So here's another excellent Swan experience; I really love their take on Zinfandel.  Tasted by dke on 10/3/2010 & rated 88 points: Zin bubble gum on the nose. Good fruits, very dry with long finish. Worth a re-taste, 88-89- (3252 views)
Tasted by gjv115 on 6/25/2010 & rated 89 points: A little earthy. Developing some complexity. For some it was the WOTN, for others not so much. (3291 views)
Tasted by OregonWineGeeks on 6/5/2010 & rated 91 points: This well aged Zinfandel from a wonderful winery. The nose is round, Raspberry, loam, slightly herbal. The taste is full bodied raspberry, strawberry, pepper, a numbing tannin and huge long finish. 91, really good Zinf. (3403 views)
Tasted by pickhardt on 3/14/2010 & rated 89 points: Reminiscent of being at a Sonoma winery. Fruit forward, even at this age. Very nice and a good bargain. (3624 views)
Tasted by mjames on 12/9/2009 & rated 88 points: lots of cherry notes and spice, good acidity. surprised me given the age, but could probably go for a few more years. overall, very nice and typical of the Swan Zinfandels I've had (3824 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
