Not scoring this one. (208 views) | | Tasted by vandal16 on 5/7/2021 & rated 90 points: Dark Cherry/berry aromas with hints of brown leaves and menthol. Black berry/currant fruit flavors along with notes of black licorice and baking spices on the medium finish. Pretty extracted. Tingle of menthol as well. Soft tannins. (864 views) | | Tasted by dlduchon on 12/11/2020 & rated 90 points: Fruity, extracted style with what appears to be some oak aging adding another dimension of flavor. Fantastic QPR. (980 views) | | Tasted by tsdv on 8/9/2020 & rated 84 points: Pretty good but seemed a bit over extracted to me. Dark color, dark flavors, juicy. I like a leaner Barb asti. (1105 views) | | Tasted by WY Leonidas on 7/31/2020 & rated 90 points: Purple, almost opaque core. Nose has lots of black and red fruit, and ith a minty herb, and roses, though a bit hot. Fore has loads of black fruit, with a medium plus body and silky, yet chaulky tannins. Great minerals and beaming cranberry like acidity on the finish. Very nice Barbera that has got a few years of good drinking ahead. For 13 bucks, this is a steal! (1029 views) |
| Vite Colte Producer websiteBarbera Varietal character (Appellation America) Varietal character (Wikipedia German) Varietal character (Wikipedia English) Barbera is a red wine variety, originally from Italy, which is best known as the second-most important Piedmontese variety after Nebbiolo. The wines made of this grape are mainly the everyday drinking wines of the region. The main appellations producing Barbera are Asti and Alba.
Barbera - The most widely grown red wine grape of Piedmont and Southern Lombardy, most famously around the towns of Asti and Alba, and Pavia. The wines of Barbera were once simply "what you drank while waiting for the Barolo to be ready." With a new generation of wine makers, this is no longer the case. The wines are now meticulously vinified, aged Barbera gets the name "Barbera Superiore" (Superior Barbera), sometimes aged in French barrique becoming "Barbera Barricato", and intended for the international market. The wine has bright cherry fruit, a very dark color, and a food-friendly acidity.Italy Italian Wines (ItalianMade.com, The Italian Trade Commission) | Italian Wine Guide on the WineDoctorPiedmont Vignaioli Piemontesi (Italian only) On weinlagen-infoAsti Consorzio per la Tutela dell'Asti |
