Tasted by DevenStephens on 4/10/2024 & rated 93 points: First experience with Sherry (solera) and I was not disappointed at all. So much depth of flavor. Brown color kinda like a clear molasses. The nose is dried raisins, dark honey and really jumps out of the glass. On the palate, dried figs, raisins, maple syrup, buckwheat honey and a long finish with roasted nuts that just keeps coming back, like a heartbeat of flavor on the tongue. For the price that this is sold this is incredible. Really helps with that sweet craving. (383 views)
Tasted by Ernestas on 1/20/2024 & rated 88 points: A rare but pleasant companion in my glass of sweet Pedro Ximenez blend with Palomino, aged separately over 12 years in their own solera, then blended and aged additionally for 3 years in 45 cask solera. Medium brown colour, amber hue. Medium intensity aroma of caramel, coffee, medicinal notes, prunes in liquor, honey, shoe polish, hint of maple syrup. Full body, concentrated and intense with caramel, mushroomy, coffee and nutty flavours, light spicy acidity. (665 views)
Tasted by Rodenbach99 on 9/10/2023 & rated 88 points: La robe est brune mélasse. Un nez sucré, sucre brun, cassonade. Une bouche sucrée avec une touche de rancio, le px a pris le dessus sur le oloroso. Un peu trop sucré. (881 views)
Tasted by robmatic on 6/21/2023 & rated 92 points: Excellent. (1110 views)
Tasted by dead puddle on 2/19/2023 & rated 89 points: Nice flavours of caramel, dried fig and melted orange marmelade. Strong structure made by alcohol and elegant bitter softened by wished sweatness. Very good, powerfull, complex. Medium length. (1336 views)
Tasted by FjordogFjell on 12/24/2022: Etter at freden har senket seg. Appelsinskall, friske rosiner på nesen. Rik og sødmefull kompleks smak med solid syre. (1156 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 7/27/2022 & rated 92 points: Roof Top Sherry and More (David's Place, Mpls): Dark amber color. Tasting pour over 20 minutes. Lovely, with brown sugar, sweet, dates, Mission fig, molasses, dried apricot and dried cherry. Rich and dynamic, quite long. Excellent 91+ to 92pts. (1614 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 4/24/2022 & rated 92 points: Third bottle from a half case purchased in 2006. L-6209. A blend of 80% Oloroso Don Nuño and 20% Pedro Xímenez San Emilio, matured to reproduce the style of Sherries shipped to the East Indies on the decks of sailing ships, 20% ABV. Salty and nutty, notable oak spice and cocktail bitters, only medium sweet after sixteen years in bottle, hints of molasses and figs, quite a hit of alcohol, some caramel on the finish. Impressive in its way, but lacks finesse (91). After a week in the open bottle in the cellar, the wine has all but transformed. It has become a rich and sweet and figgy wine, with lots of salty acidity on a big and sweet, caramelly palate. (1922 views)
Tasted by Doc90 on 12/29/2021 & rated 93 points: Intense nose of cashews, old exotic rum barrels, and molasses. Viscous. Man I love Sherry. Maple in the beginning from the PX, but it is dynamic and zips through caramel and cherrywood, ending on a drier note of nuts and damp wood after a dramatic shift. Really good stuff. Sipped while reading a book, as you should do with good Sherry. (1401 views)
Tasted by scorbett on 12/3/2021: Molasses, dates, walnuts.

It's sweet but not excessively so. Quite enjoyable. (1213 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 11/25/2021 & rated 88 points: A pleasant sweet sherry with oxidative aromas that are well balanced by its sweetness. Medium complexity. A bit flabby on the finish for my taste. (1882 views)
Tasted by Jeff’s Cellar 12345 on 6/17/2020: Q (2064 views)
Tasted by SuperSomm on 12/21/2019: Medium amber colour. Pronounced nose with cinnamon, fig, almond, walnuts and caramel. Pronounced taste of vanilla, chocolate, raisins, figs, nutmeg, honey, almonds, walnuts and caramel. Long and sweet finish. Medium acidity. Full body. A good Sherry. Goes well with sweet fruits cakes or caramel based deserts. (561 views)
Tasted by WetRock on 11/15/2019: Nutty, woodsy, caramel dessert. Just enough acid and no much in noticeable alcohol. Nice value. Just an easy option for a late night sip. Lasts in fridge for weeks. (2283 views)
Tasted by djarcara on 5/12/2019 & rated 90 points: Deep walnut color. Dates, caramel, toffee, and pecan flavors. Quite sweet, but there is a nice acidity to balance things out. A good wine with sharper cheeses and nuts. Good value too. (2113 views)
Tasted by JCherniak on 4/26/2019 & rated 90 points: Colour is light brown, almost orange. Nose is like a mix between sherry and port. Orange peel, anise and alcohol. The flavour is sweet like caramel with some hints of orange followed by some muted sherry bitterness. It’s very smooth. (1578 views)
Tasted by FjordogFjell on 3/31/2019 & rated 91 points: Svisker, appelsinskall, sultan rosiner, fantastisk aromatisk , balansert og tydelig sødme og syre (1943 views)
Tasted by WetRock on 1/27/2019: Sweet caramel. Woody. Like comfort food. (1504 views)
Tasted by YoRi on 1/6/2019 & rated 91 points: Sommairement, excellent accord avec tiramisu de Yo. Du sucre à profusion, notes de café, caramel, tire à l'érable, ouf ! (1396 views)
Tasted by jmcmchi on 8/23/2018: Smoke, ripe, caramel with a saline note

Relatively light considering the richness of the nose, nice spice on the finish.

On the sweeter end of the spectrum, but nowhere near cloying (1469 views)
Tasted by KSWinegeek on 4/12/2018 & rated 89 points: Brown color. Raisin, honey, maple syrup flavors. Long finish. (1702 views)
Tasted by jmcmchi on 3/1/2018: Sweet and fiery, almost port effect. Good if that is what you want (934 views)
91 (1876 views)
Tasted by Butzemann on 12/26/2017 & rated 91 points: Pop and Pour. Brown colour, smells of smoke, raisins and caramel, medium body, not overly sweet, in the mouth caramel and raisins, in the aftertaste there is a gustatory blast of smoke and caramel, really very long finish (45 sec), really great Cream Sherry, my favourite one. (1769 views)
Tasted by Caruso on 12/22/2017 & rated 89 points: Amber. Notes of shoe polish, wood, plums, almonds. On the palate sweet with obvious alcohol. This will work well with cheese or desserts. Of course this has no aging potential, but will hold through some years. (1670 views)

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.

Two suggestions for listing Sherries and Manzanilla wines from a frequent user in a time of change:

The vast majority of these wines are solera-produced and are therefore nonvintage; they should not be listed under a vintage date. A Saca (or bottling) can be listed with a date under Designation, since each bottling is liable to be somewhat different. Dates of accession to your cellar, if it seems important, can also be listed in Designation. Only an Anada (Vintage) wine should bear a vintage date.

Currently, Manzanilla wines (what used to be called Manzanilla Fino) need only be listed as coming from the wine region Manzanilla-Sanlucar de Barrameda. This assumes the 'Jerez' region, which need not be mentioned. For older wines, there may be some confusion about the origin and type. I would suggest following the label as much as possible. jht

Oloroso, sherries are ”born” when fino fails to form on sherry at the beginning of its life in the bodega or when a producer decides to fortify the wine enough such that the growth of flor is inhibited.
